From the Manufacturer

In a wave of challenges and bluffs, players compete for control of the sea. Play your cards right and watch your stack of fish grow. But just when you think you're the big fish a bigger fish comes along. Gobble up the most fish and you win. Game contains game board, 55 cards, 35 stackable fish tokens, 1 starfish token. The goal of the game is for a player to catch as many fish pieces as possible. Stacks of 1 - 5 fish are moved around the board in search of prey. Adjacent stacks engage in combat. Cards are played, and the number on the card is added to the number of fish in a player's stack. Highest total wins the combat, and that player's stack is placed on top of the loser's. If a stack contains more than 5 fish, the extras are placed in the winner's pool of caught fish. Ties result in both stacks of fish being discarded. Cards may only be played once, so players must balance the need to win a combat with the need to hold on to high cards for future combats against growing stacks.

My family plays a lot of board games. We also usually like Out of the Box games. We have four children ages 7-15, 2 boys and 2 girls, so I think we have a diverse selection of opinions. This game really did not click with anyone. My seven year-old son was the only one who liked it at all. Generally speaking, it is pretty boring.

Bought this after my 6 year old fell in love with it at a vacation rental. The game is not too difficult to learn, and has just enough strategy for someone that age to make it interesting and educational. As an adult I got tired of it after a while, but that's usually true of most simple games that kids that age can play and understand.

My seven year old loves this game. It's simple, it creates dramatic moments, and anyone can win.

The rules are very simple - you get a limited stack of cards and then move your cute little plastic fish to attack each other using those cards. The plastic fish are fun to play with, and stacking them on top of each other as they are eaten is a simple pleasure that kids love.

The real heart of the gameplay is guessing what the other player will do. Which kids are surprisingly adept at. Unfortunately, the other best strategy is counting cards, which my son isn't very interested in. But that's good, as it gives the adults at the table an edge. It's well balanced and has enough strategy to keep the adults interested but enough randomness to keep the kids in the game.
