Full disclosure: Tyler is a friend of mine going back to our days in middle school. After losing touch for a few years, I discovered this album on facebook and ordered a copy. It was in my CD player for weeks straight. I've had other friends and acquaintances put out albums that weren't really my speed. This is for anyone who appreciates good singer-songwriters and a truly original sound. You can clearly hear some Dylan and other elements in there, but taken as a whole, I haven't heard anything like it.
What I really enjoy about this album is the guitar work. Tyler has some of the most nimble fingers I've heard and uses them to create very original acoustic sounds. "Out from the Darkness" is a great song and great single, but I don't skip over any of the other tracks. Tyler put his soul into the music and lyrics, and it sounds like this has been years in the making, as I'm sure it was.
