Obviously a novel such as this one requires the reader to suspend her disbelief to a certain extent. However, I found the idea that the relationship between the two main characters would progress to the level it did during an active investigation to be unbelievable, and the fact that the other officers on the case would tolerate this behavior was too hard for me to accept.
This book is set in Boston and the surrounding area, but I don't think Ms. Giordano did her research quite as well as she might have. One giveaway was a line where Julia tells Tori that her version of hiking is trekking to the shoe department of Nordstrom. Sadly, none of the Boston ladies will have this experience as there is not a Nordstrom in Boston, only a Rack.
Will I recommend this book? Probably not, but I will give the author another chance and read more of her work as I thought this novel had quite a bit of potential.
She wad covered in drugs when found. Then her car was found with a dead man inside. Even though Matt was out on medical leave he conned his superiors to do the investigation because they had been trying to track a drug dealer named Viper for years. Due to Julie being covered in drugs they thought she might be the one.
definitely no POV problems, she did that well, separating the characters.
Then there were things like the screwed up paragraphs
"Oh, good. Come downstairs," she urged. "I’ve got a table at
Mario’s. We have
a lot to catch up on."
Ouch, and there were many. The author might want to check her finished book on Kindle first.
All in all, it wasn't a bad read and it was free. I have bought the rest in this series, mostly because Ms. Giordano has the potential to be really good, and will comment on them too.
He is DEA Agent who had a rough case and got shot and is recovering from it. He lost an informant and blames himself.
Their attraction for each other grows..
There is plenty of action, mystery, romance, and and love.
Julie has strength, and vulnerability.
They both have needs and wants.
The characters in this book are what make this book great.
