***WARNING POSSIBLE SPOILERS*****

I have mixed feelings about this book. Andy and Seth, LOVED them as characters, but Emily's selfishness made me dislike here and wonder just what these men saw in her. Granted I have never been in her position, loving someone for so long and losing them, especially the only family you have known for like 14 years, I get not being ready to let go, but she was just too self involved in her own thoughts for me to like her.

Here is Andy living out his last days on his terms, to watch his two best friends complete his bucket list so they can see how right they are for each other and Em can finally admit she loves Seth.

Seth has been hiding his feelings for his best friends girlfriend, (in fairness they met and became friends with at the same time so he isn't some crap friend that falls for a girl he has only known as his buddy's girlfriend), all the while he is trying to support his dying friend's last wishes, but thinking only of how he can make sure Emily and Andy are feeling and letting his own feelings take the back burner.

Finally we have Emily, who lost her parents when she was young and was taken in by Andy's family, so even though this girl has two of the best friends anyone could ask for, she still feels like everyone leaves here and will never, ever love again after Andy dies. Woe is me. She also admits very early in the book that she doesn't think she is "in love" with Andy anymore, but later when he calls her out on it, she gets very defensive and throws a temper tantrum.

This is a beautiful story of three friends, Em, Seth, and Andy, faced with the reality that soon one of them will be gone. What makes the situation even more heartbreaking is that Em and Andy have been in love with each other years. Throughout their relationship, Seth has silently been in love with Em too. Ms. Johnson has crafted a beautiful story of death, loss, and guilt. But most of all it's a story of friendship, unconditional love, and learning to live after the death of your lover and your very best friend. I have a feeling this is one of those books that will stay with you for a very long time.

I love Missy Johnson's work, but this has to be the best one yet.

Right from the prologue I had tears in my eyes and they continued pretty much throughout.

Andy has accepted that he's dying, but what he can't accept is leaving his girl, Em behind. He NEEDS to know that she's taken care.

The trip he asks his girl and best friend to take him on is for their benefit mainly. He doesn't want them to remember him as being sick, he wants them to remember his final days as being happy. So with a weird sense of humour he tries to accomplish that, until he can't do it anymore.

Both Em and their best friend Seth try to full fill Andy's wishes, which isn't always easy, especially with the feelings Seth tries to keep buried for Em.

I loved every word of this story and thought the author has done a wonderful job of portraying Andy, and the agony Seth and Em go through.

Well done Missy!!!

The book is very emotional and very well written

After reading the synopsis, I knew that this was going to be a hard one to get through. Any book that has someone battling cancer, fictional or otherwise, automatically strikes a chord with me. I've read some of Missy Johnson's other work and this was very different but not in a bad way at all. This was a much more emotional read than I am used to when I read her books.

The book follows three life-long friends Seth, Emily and Andy. Here comes the sadness; Andy is dying of cancer, at this point in time there are no more treatment options and he is running out of time. Here in lies part of the rub...Andy and Emily have been dating for years. She has been by his side through both of his bouts of cancer. Seth has been there as well, for Emily because he is in love with her. Tired of laying around waiting to die, Andy makes all the arrangements for Seth and Emily to complete his bucket list- with him cheering on from the sidelines.

Some of these scenes were so well written and detailed that I felt I was there with them. When they visit the tattoo parlor I cheered with Andy as he got in his final screw you to the disease had me laughing with tears running down my face. And that wasn't the only time. As The bond between these friends was deep and true. I could really relate to their struggle to say goodbye and simultaneously hang on.

I don't know if I can say who the circumstances were harder for. Andy who knew he was dying and had to find a way to say goodbye and try to make it ok (as ok as it can be) for those left behind. Emily who still loved Andy but wasn't in love with him in the same way. But wanted to be there for him and didn't want to let go of the version of Andy that he used to be.
