I made this purchase based on its 5-star rating and because - like everyone - I have goals in life. My expectation was that this book would provide a PRACTICAL approach to formulating and achieving goals. This was more of a "motivational" book, which I should have judged from the title and the cover.
The book does provide insight into the problems people face when setting and pursuing their goals and this is really valuable - if you know how to properly break down and manage a goal in the first place. I understand that each goal is unique, but this book was hollow in the sense that it skimmed the surface of a profoundly deep theme and left more to be wanted.
The fact that there is more to be wanted is a shame - because this book is approximately 200 pages and, yet, I finished it within an hour (trying to digest each thought thoroughly). I do not read quickly. This book sometimes has as few as 10 word per page and, on average, seems to be limited to about 30 words per page... Most pages have a single - short (well-written) - paragraph - a note-card from a 30 minute speech.
This is very informal book and not for the better... not some "breakthrough" experience. Informal for a reason (because it doesn't work). I plan to invest the time into putting into practice what I have read here, but most of it I have heard before and all of it needs more foundation to be put into practice. Now I know to go off my instinct instead of off ratings. Ironic because this rating may conflict with your instinct. All I'm saying is... if you want to know HOW to set goals... this is abstract and not formulaic in any sense. Extremely vague... attempting to be enlightening.
Good luck with your goals!
