Review

""A fiercely intense novel written from the ultimate insider's perspective - an elite sniper from the famed" SEAL TEAM Six."

--Chris Evans, author of the "Iron Elves" series

About the Author

Dr. Howard E. Wasdin graduated with BUD/S Class 143. After twelve years of service, and following the Battle of Mogadishu, where he was awarded the Silver Star, Wasdin medically retired from the Navy in November 1995. He makes his home in Georgia.

Stephen Templin completed Hell Week, qualified as a pistol and rifle expert, and blew up things during Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training. He is now an associate professor at Meio University in Japan.

I read very few novels and I am not sure why, because this one is very good. The storyline starts with Alex, a Navy SEAL that disobeys a direct order not to kill a terrorist. Ok, I am liking him already. Then it brings in Pancho and John, two more SEALs that took some justice into their own hands. And rounding out the team is Cat, she seems to really excel at pissing off people way above her pay grade in the Navy's chain of command.

These four "Outcasts" get teamed up together with a secret group, "Bitter Ash" and get a chance to redeem themselves and help protect the United States from some deadly terrorists bent on bombing Manhattan.

Without going into too much detail I will tell you this is an exciting and intense book. There was plenty of action from start to finish and I am sure someone will pick up the movie rights because this will make a great movie.

Stephen Templin and Howard Wasdin have written a few other books. I read SEAL Team Six: Memoirs of an Elite Navy SEAL Sniper and highly recommend it. If you have not read it, you should. If you are a fan of SEAL books I just finished reading Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown and also The Red Circle: My Life in the Navy SEAL Sniper Corps and How I Trained America's Deadliest Marksmen, both were excellent books.

I have read Dr. Wasdin's account of his naval service and found it to be very informative and well-written. However his jump into fiction was disappointing. I have the greatest respect for Dr. Wasdin and for what he has done for this country, but his fiction book is not worth purchasing. I am being charitable in giving it two stars.

Howard E Wasdin and Stephen Templin have now joined the ranks of ex special forces operators who are writing military fiction.Seal Team Six Outcasts is a slam bang, white knuckle ride that follows a group of Tier One operators as they hunt down seven of the worlds top terrorists. They are not tasked with capturing the terrorists, but rather the systematic elimination (wet work)of all seven. They have help getting the weapons they need, but if captured or killed they are on their own.The only problem I had was the relationship between Alex and Cat.I will be interested in seeing how it will proceed and how it effects the group dynamic.John and Pancho are strong characters, but by books end more is known about John than Pancho.I'd like to read more about Pancho as the series progresses. As a first novel it's good and entertaining which is what I enjoy.I'm also into the weapons used and Wasdin/Temple do a great job in that department.I'll be looking forward to future volumes in this series.

From start to finish, the over-used phrases "hard to put down" and "page-turner" fit this novel. Wasdin and Templin have collaborated on a tightly written story, complete with subplots, well-developed characters, and realistic, pulse-pounding action. The story spans the globe from the Middle East to Asia to Europe to the U.S., written by authors that have been there, done that, and turned down the t-shirt. If you liked "Seal Team Six" and "Act of Valor", look forward to spending some late nights reading of the terrorist-killing team of SEALS, the Outcasts. Just one question: is it too early to preorder the sequel?

What I would first like to say is that the author(s) respects the readers and although this is a work of fiction, it is a FUN work of fiction. The characters are credible and the general credulity of the reader is not stretched beyond the breaking point as occurs with many of the plotlines of this genre.
Good on ya' Mr. Wasdin. You broke the code.
Now would I buy anothe from this author? Yep. I certainly would.
What would I like to see? A combined multi-operational authorship between Brooks William Kelley and Daniel Dick and Wasdin.
A three part mega book with each writer taking up the baton and continuing the story.
ahhh. dream on old fool.
Graab THIS book. It is well worth your time; and that time will seem very short. This book does move.

I had extremely high expectations for SEAL TEAM SIX OUTCASTS and was not disappointed. Of course the story was action packed from beginning to end, but the twists and turns were unexpected. I am usually pretty good at predicting what will happen in a book, but that was not the case here. There were surprises around every page. Also, although I have read every book about Navy SEALS that I can get my hands on, I learned a lot of new information about the teams. I won't ruin the book by saying what the information is, you'll have to read it yourself!

Having never read anything by this author, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad I gave it a try! Great opening to, what I hope, will be a long run series. Character development at the outset really paints a picture in your head. You can almost hear the gun fights as you're reading. Going to get the second installment now.

I'm usually pretty lenient with ratings, but this I have to give a low star rating. There were a ton of times that I was rolling my eyes while reading this. It was hard to get through. The dialogue was way overdone, adding in a love story was painfully horrible, it was honestly a book I couldn't get all the way through. I've read lots of spec ops books, and this was a pretty bad attempt at that.
