This fit perfect, with plenty of room for larger calves if needed.
They fit well and we're very easy to put on.
Bought these for use on the muddy (and usually rainy, but we got lucky) West Coast Trail.

These gaiters are great quality, with strong fabric and velcro closure. The leather strap held up well over a two-week backpacking trip over rocky, sometimes wet territory. I am a petite female (5'3" tall), that wears a size 7.5 in shoes, but I have extremely muscular calves (13.5" at widest point). Initially I ordered size Small, but they fit so closely to my calves that I would have had a hard time climbing on unsteady terrain and layering would have been impossible. I ordered size Medium and found that they fit well with two layers of thin hiking pants and a thick pair of wool socks. They cover me entirely from foot to knee (any higher and they would have been too long for me).

Conclusion: Medium works for 5'3" female with 13.5" calves. If your legs are on the shorter side (and/or you have smaller calves), the Small would be a better option.

I already have a shorter pair that I wear for hiking & they do a great job but I recently got some Zensah knee-high compression stockings & found while hiking some off the beaten path areas of Florida, where I winter, that I quite often picked up a slew of burrs as I very rarely hike in long pants. So I ordered these just to cover my socks. They fit just like my shorter ones: hook onto laces top of my boots, velcro overlapping to my knees & secured at the top by a buckling system that clamps down on the strap. As my legs as somewhat thin under my knees I've found that the strap doesn't cinch tight enough & at it's smallest the closing buckle doesn't always stay clamped down. Even when finally secured I'm left with a long tail of strapping that I have to tuck into the top of the gaiters. Just a little annoying but acceptable. Overall they are quite lightweight & made very well. The bottom leather strap that goes under the arch of your boot has held up for 2 years on my shorter ones without any wear. They also come with an INFINITE WARRANTY so you are well protected. Great in the rain but not water-waders. Also never get hot, even though they are black. All in all I'm quite satisfied & would buy either short or long again. Even my husband has a pair as well as a great many hikers in our Florida Trail Association.

I love these gaiters! I would have given them a 5* if they were a little warmer. I wear knitted leg warmers under them for added warmth, and then it's perfect. They are shaped really nicely to your calves, have a buckle at the top that adds stability and a touch of something stylish, the velcro up the front seam works well and seals it up great. I am 5' 3" and have muscular calves. I bought a size Women's Medium, but I could have gotten a Small and it would have been fine, too. On me they come up high and still leave a lot of room at the calves for double layers of bottom wear like long underwear and jeans. They are well made, waterproof, fit well, a bit thin but otherwise very, very nice.

I enjoy wintertime hiking, but going off-trail is usually a problem because of the unpredictable snow depths. I didn't want the bulk of a snowpant, and I didn't have the budget for ski/snowboarding pants. I had never really thought to use gaiters, but my sister recommended them, and they ended up fitting my needs and budget perfectly! I was a little nervous to try because the front closure is all Velcro, but to my surprise, it's an excellent seal. When I go off trail, I've been in snow above my knees, but none of the snow got inside. The material is sturdy, and provide another layer of warmth on your calves, as well as protection from the elements and brush/branches, when you're off-trail. They have a hook at the top of the foot for boots that have gaiter eyelets, and the bottom strap is long enough to accomodate my YakTrax, as well. The bottoms are sinched by a very tight-yet-flexible elastic band, and the top is sinched by an adjustible toggle buckle. I'm super impressed. I wear ankle boots, hiking socks, a base layer, and cotton lined athletic pants, and they fit perfectly, so there'd be room to wear something bulkier like jeans or mid-calf trail/hiking boots, or even streamlined snowboots. As far as I'm concerned, they paid for themselves my very first time wearing them! LOVE!

These were a great way to spend time in the snow on vacation, without having to purchase snow boots (which we don't need here in Florida). However, be warned, they are way smaller than I had anticipated. I wear a woman's size 6 shoe and am fairly small (5'4", 108 lbs.). These didn't come close to fitting over my hiking boots.

Bought these for use on the muddy (and usually rainy, but we got lucky) West Coast Trail. Kept my feet completely dry. A couple of times i stepped in water over my ankle and no water got in my boots at all. They also kept all the mud off my pants. I debated between these and the OR Crocodile gaiters (more expensive, more waterproof), but after using these I would say they are MORE than adequate. I love them and wish I had bought them sooner. I haven't tried them in snow but after stepping in deep water and keeping dry I would think these would work in snow as well.

Purchased these for my trek up Kilimanjaro... And waited until after my trip to give a review.

These are my very first pair of gaiters and these were very high quality. They have a large Velcro strip that you use to put them on over your pants and a small hook to hook them to your shoelace. I didn't know how to put them on but a quick YouTube search showed me how.

They stood the test during my hike and they kept all of the dirt off my pants. The straps that go under the boot are made with leather and felt very secure while walking.

To clean, I threw them in the washer with cold water and laid them out to dry. Great buy and will last a long time.
