Conclusion: Medium works for 5'3" female with 13.5" calves. If your legs are on the shorter side (and/or you have smaller calves), the Small would be a better option.
These are my very first pair of gaiters and these were very high quality. They have a large Velcro strip that you use to put them on over your pants and a small hook to hook them to your shoelace. I didn't know how to put them on but a quick YouTube search showed me how.
They stood the test during my hike and they kept all of the dirt off my pants. The straps that go under the boot are made with leather and felt very secure while walking.
To clean, I threw them in the washer with cold water and laid them out to dry. Great buy and will last a long time.

I'm a runner with thicker calves. I bought a Medium, halfway expecting them to be too small given the reviews stating they run small. But, they fit fine with room to add layers. Read morePublished 7 months ago by wilson58121
