THE PERFECT DOWN SWEATER Sometimes you need down insulation, but don't want to look like you're climbing Everest. The Verismo is a true down sweater- narrow baffles with just enough 650 fill down for cold spring crag missions, and layering under or over any of your mountain life styles.

Fits to size and looks good.
Fit: I really like the fit of this jacket.
My Size. I am a pretty standard sized athletic guy (6'0'' 165 LBS; Upper body: 40'' Chest, Arm Length; 35'' (long), Pant: 31,33). This jaket fit me very well. It was fitted but not too tight for me, but I dont have a gut so if you are a stockier guy it might be a bit tight. It fits well as a sub layer under a shell, and is stylish as an outer. The hood is designed well and has a nice adjustment around the rim (fyi, probably wont fit over a ski helmit, maybe a low profile climbing helm though).
Purpose: Midlayer, lightwight insulation
I have a large down jacket for low temperatures, so I purchased this one to fit the temps of days and evenings where a shell and a long sleve are not enough but thwere the large down coat would just be overkill. It fits this purpose well, though I thought it should have be a little warmer. This is probably becuase of the lightwight nature and low fill (650 fill). However, it does regulate your body temperature well. I do a lot of skiing clibing hiking biking, and meandering around town; this would be a good jacket for any low cardio version of any of these. I like the 3 pockets. They are the rights sizes and in the right locations as usual. It would be nice if the inerliners for the hand pockets were insulated, becuase when you are walking around with the jacket unzipped the pockets provide little to no protection from the cold (easy remedy, zip up the jacke). This is a minor critique but it would be a nice additon
Quality: fair, not typically what I expect from OR.
Disclosure: I might have recieved a deffective jacket, and I will probably request a replacement through OR's infinite guarantee. I have been very disapointed with the feather shedding of this jacket. I have owned quite a few down coats and they all shed, however, this one is highly irregular in the amount of feathers it continuously puts off. I cannot ware this jacket with any dark colored clothing becuase I come away looking like ive been wrestling with a cat or dog. I have the fealing that this jacket will soon lose most of its insulation. I have warn this with a light pack and it looks like the desity of the down has been especially reduced where the packs ridges set on my lumbar. Additionaly, I have only had the jacket a couple of weeks and there are a number of frayed strings coming undone. I will be seaking a replacement through OR's awsome Infinite guarantee.
Conclusion: Great fit, light wight, lower fill, lots of shedding
This jacket is very well designed for its purpose as far as form and fit. I really would recomend it. The shedding is pretty bad but I am going to get this one replaced and see if the issue persists.
Alternatives: Filament Jaket.
I might recommend the lighterweight Filimont Jacket (800+ fill, weight: 281g) over this jacket (650 fill, 390g). Though the Filament is more expensive, it may be a better jacket. I dont know which woulld provide more warmth, but I would not be supprised if the lighter wieght jacket with the higher 800+ fill did a better job with less material. Both have hoods.
