Good Camera -- Software Is Crap
[MORE UPDATE 01/23/2025]Image of the LED light bulbs posted so you can see what the 5000 Lumen HJFF LED light bubs look like that I got from here on Amazon so I could put one in my front porch light. My battery was constantly draining each night because the camera light would come on every time there was movement at light. Now it doesn't have to so the battery is now holding its charge from the solar panel which is a must buy.[UPDATE 01/19/2025]Accidentally stumbled onto a solution for that PC client thing not fitting on my display. I was not happy with the user name Microsoft stuck me with so I migrated all my old user files over to a new user profile and the client just magically started behaving on it's own under that new user profile. Switching user profiles is not for the faint of heart so I can't recommend it as a solution, but it did work for me. Meanwhile customer support politely sent me a replacement camera and things appear to be working better overall for now. It's been a big ordeal overall to get this far, but one thing for sure, you wont have to worry about customer support handling any issue with finesse.[Read update below] My original review was discarded by Amazon for being too real and I can't remember all the details now so this is a total rewrite from faded recall. The android app MUST be installed from Google Play! Go there first and search for "Reolink" to install. Forget the worthless instructions shown in the quick start -- they don't work. It takes you to a google download link that does not work so just don't bother. Beyond that, you still have to get the camera linked to your local network. Good luck with that -- took a lot of effort but finally figured that out. When you get past that initial nightmare, if you want to use the camera on your PC, Be prepared to uninstall and reinstall the PC app. My first install, the app was larger than my 19020x1080 display so I could not use it.I did a new download, uninstall and reinstall and after several restarts I opened the app again and curiously it did not go off screen as before so I was able to resize it to fill the desktop. Goofy behavior, Flaky behavior makes it overall a little scary. Could not be adjusted before reinstall but I was eventually able to adjust the app to fill my 1920x1080 desktop. Thankfully when I close and reopen the app it goes back to the full screen display as I had it adjusted at the previous close. OHH BUT!! I forget why now, but I had to do another uninstall/reinstall and now cannot get the client to size down to fit my display and support does not seem too concerned about that so that of course is a very disappointing. The camera seems to be a good quality product, but the software interface is a nightmare from step one and does not do justice to the camera itself. Some rework from the ground up is in order there. Three stars is Overly generous considering the ordeal I experienced with the initial setup and continue to have with their PC client. Maybe 1/4 star would be appropriate.[UPDATE]To be fair, I should say I am very happy with the camera performance. The camera is very high resolution and covers a wide angle so if/when you can get past the software/setup nightmare, the end results are livable and if you do write email support, they are very responsive, and appear to care deeply about your experience, IF you can find their email address. Oh, and my wife had no issues installing and connecting her iPhone app AFTER I did the initial setup using my Android phone. They claim they will be redoing the installation/setup instructions. Hopefully that will take place before you place your order, if you are still considering this product. If so I HIGHLY recommend getting the camera/solar panel bundle!. Also the camera does not zoom but normal two finger zoom on the android does work well and two finger drag (presumably the mouse wheel as well) on the PC does the trick too,Bottom line -- I'm keeping this camera.[UPDATE] -- My experience with Ed, Almhie and Sandy from Reolink Support has been 5 star. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐(Even if the software developer keeps their hands tied.)[UPDATE] 12/10/24 -- The one of three SD cards that I ordered finally arrived so I was finally able to put it into my new "Reolink Argus 3 Pro" security camera and test it's recording feature. Seems to be working fine, so I'm glad for that. Although they do not provide any ability to delete individual recordings, so you have to use the built-in "Storage > Format" feature to wipe the entire SD card. (Does not literally "wipe" the card.) .OR, You can go get the ladder, take the camera down so you can get to the SD card and use your computer to delete files as desired -- NOT a very practical solution, but best they can offer presently. Also playback on the PC client is extremely unintuitive so you'll never know which video is playing back, which is very confusing because every new motion creates a new video.REASON FOR THIS PURCHASE: I wanted a web cam that I could run on my local network, without the camera needing to call home "up in the cloud" to make the connection to my phone or PC like other products do."Meta" The AI assistant on Whatsapp recommended this camera to meet my criteria and I have confirmed it works on the local network when the internet is blocked so it met my base criteria and I've decided to keep it even though I was not impressed with the software and setup instructions, which were at best mediocre, but functional. Also want to add, support commented adding additional cameras after the initial setup should be very straight forward because software is already installed from first camera setup. One last thing, I setup "Push" on my android phone which provides reliable convenience of a very audible ping to my phone when movement is detected by the camera so Kudos for that feature. (look in settings in the phone app and set "Push" to ON position, AND go it into Phone settings > Notifications > App notifications and enable Reolink. A web search for "Push on Reolink" provided me that information.

Reolink customer service reached out due to this post. They reach out to make things better. I have yet seen a company reached out to a consumer just to make things better without asking to change the post. THEY DIDNT ASK TO REDO THIS POST. This type of customer service is what keeps customers.

      Original:
Video quality is good and integration with the app is easy and simple. However one of the camera came with a broke speaker. You can hear through the camera, but you cannot talk out of the camera. I will place that camera where I don’t need to talk back to anyone but I wish it was working.

So I have cheaper Camaras currently and they just miss some motion due to the delay in turning on so it's gotten pointless. I tried the tapo Camara by tp link (C425) but it wouldn't stay connected to the Internet. I spent hours trying to get it to work and then returned them. The reolink Argus 3 Pro was just as easy if not easier to setup and is always connected. I've had it for over 24 hours and have put it through some testing.

You will need an SD card to see time stamps and footage without paying for a plan. I like that I don't have to pay for this feature. The timers still turn the Camara on when there is motion, but it won't alert you. The Camara not only picks up motion, but sound which I really like. It hasn't disconnected once on me. The alert is delayed a few seconds, but the recording is not. It starts recording before I get the alert. Battery seems fine. I put it through quite the day with testing and messing with settings and drained the battery maybe 12%, but that was with a whole day of checking on it and messing with it. The app isn't as good as tp links, but gets the job done. I think there is room for improvement in this area, but it's not bad at all. Overall, it's better than my zumimall cameras and better than the tapo ones. I just ordered two more because this thing is sweet! Hopefully I don't have to charge it every week or I may buy the solar panel for the outside ones.

Edit: I'm adding screenshot of the battery life for all 3 Camara's. One is in my sons room, one at the front door, and one in my back yard. This will alow you to see how many minutes it spent on and recording and where the life is now. I have all the Camara's on the high resolution setting. I am placing my sons Camara on the charger now that it's below 20%. Front door and backyard are fine, even through the heavy use during the break my kids had.

So I have cheaper Camaras currently and they just miss some motion due to the delay in turning on so it's gotten pointless. This is my third Reolink camera, 2 in 2021 and one in 2022. I returned the previous two. This one is a Pro 3 and I like it better.
I have also bought, and returned, a nest camera, a blink, a ring, an Arlo because they were lousy.

      Reolink Pro 3 Positive points
      Image quality is very good
Easy to install and add to your wifi
Support is decent considering they are somewhere in China or Hong Kong. It will take a day or two to respond.

      Reolink Pro 3 Negative points
The battery charge last less than a week and stops working at about 15% charge. You can set the sensitivity to a lower setting but you will miss over 75% of the action. This defeats the purpose of the camera. I have it set it to minimum and still have to charge it weekly. Leave on a week’s vacation and you will miss lots of recordings. By the way, none of the other cameras’ batteries last that long either, even the ones that claim to do so!

Bottom line is that none of the battery operated cameras function the way the manufacturer tells you, or the way the reviewers tell you. Are they lying? Maybe exaggerating! they review these units with optimal set ups. In other words, their routers, their wifi, is a one to one set up for review. They can control the distance to the camera and every other aspect. We, the normal users, do not have similar capabilities. We can’t control the distance between the router and the camera, we can not control the bandwidth, and we have a dozen other pieces of equipment sucking up bandwidth from yours router, e.g. iPhones, iPads, tvs, games, etc. etc.
Keeping that in mind, is it worth it to have a battery operated security camera? Only you can answer that. Is something better than nothing? You decide, but be aware that the unit will not likely operate exactly, or even close, to the way you expect!

I wished I had read the reviews for purchasing. Mine won't stay connected always losing connection so today it has been taken down and reinstalled my vicohome camera which did not cost as much as the reolink and works like a dream.

Camera keeps disconnecting and very difficult to set up on my 2.4g/5g internet. When it works it's fine. I bought 3 and none are currently in use because of difficulty in set-up. I think I'd recommend another brand.

Companies so called PIR sensor up to 33ft. Only works when someone comes very slowly and stay right in front for awhile, otherwise you won’t know who comes and passes by. Battery won’t last for even 2 months. It always stay not connected mode whenever I opens my app and have to reconnect it again every time.
Won’t worth your hard earned money 👎👎

I can't give the camera more than 3 stars as the app is very often laggy. Image quality is good, but there is 4 seconds delay between live and feed. If I lived in an area that's more at risk I would probably not trust this camera as as read in the user manual the motion detection is less efficient when someone is walking towards the camera but it's the only set up I can go with according to how the front of my house is built. Other then that it was easy to install, easy to mount and there is a bunch of cool features. Camera is this close from being "great", but it's "good enough" as of now.
