Warmth Without The Weight

How do you sleep warm and comfortable, without packing a car full of gear?

The answer comes down to 3 simple things, design, components and manufacturing.

Here at Outdoor Vitals we work extremely hard to meet all three of these criteria. We designed the Aerie 5 in 1 Down Sleeping Bags in the rugged backcountry of Southern Utah, field testing it at 12,000+ foot peaks all the way to slot canyons and desert floors. From there, we sourced IDFL certified and RDS sourced down, quality milled ripstop fabrics, and YKK zippers to put together premium components for premium performance. Last we flew around the world and met with quality manufacturers to ensure our gear was being made in quality and ethical manufacturing facilities!

The end result is a premium ultralight down sleeping bag that will cut weight out of your pack, keep you warm and not break the bank account!

5 in 1 Uses:

  1. Utilize this bag as an UnderQuilt (Bungee cord Included)

1.0 out of 5 stars No way this is a 20* setup.
By Q. Zbikowski on March 16, 2017
Edit #2: I have had this quilt uncompressed laying on a bed in a spare bedroom for weeks now. Hung up in front of the window and can see what kind of garbage this quilt is. Uneven and completely inadequate down fill. This thing does not loft anywhere near what they are showing in the pictures. Obvious bait and switch by the manufacturer.

Compare to the picture of the Hammock Gear 20* hanging in the second picture. Not a speck of light making it through.

Please do not support this dishonest company.

Edit: Despite the utter absence of support from this company, I thought it unfair to make claims about the temperature rating without testing it. I took this out on a 3 nighter, and it absolutely failed the temperature rating. I am a very warm sleeper. 35* the first night, and this was chilly, but bearable. Second night, 25*, complete fail. Fortunately, I brought my Hammock Gear incubator 20* and swapped it out, using this for a TQ instead. That got me through.

It was forecasted to get down to 20*, so my friend lent me a JRB Mount Washington 3 he brought as extra. I used that as the UQ and my HG incubator as a TQ. It got down to 21* and I was too warm. I had to strip down to boxers, socks and a t-shirt. That and an uninsulated Klymit pillow and I was toasty.

Absolutely not a 20*.

Original review:

Have had it out of the stuff sack for two days to allow it to loft and it looks nothing like it should. Certainly does not look anything like a competing 20* UQ.

There is zero chance this is good down to 20*. I wouldn't even trust it to 40*.

Also, did not come with the suspension.

Company does not respond to emails when it's a problem to deal with. If you say, "Hey, I'm looking to buy..." they're on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price...would buy again.
By PXB on February 27, 2017
Quite a buy for the buck! Have used twice now once as an over quilt while hammock camping. 26 degree nite with no issues. Once as an underquilt with the same positive results. It's not cottage company quality, but the two I purchased have zero issues. I have and would recommend to a friend!
Images are to show it will compress more than their images show with a compression sack.

EDIT: First I am in NO way affiliated with OutdoorVitals! I just like giving honest opinions. I have read a few of the negative reviews and I can say that I am not sure what they were expecting. This is a great quality product for the money. I have now used it on multiple nights as both an topquilt or underquilt. It is very close if not exceeds the rating. With that said I am pretty sure it is not an EN rating, but I was comfortable to 25 degrees when used in both configurations. If you have loft issues, I put mine in the dryer for fifteen minutes on fluff with 5 tennis balls...viola it is lofts excellent and maintains after being compressed in a backpack. Just make sure to re-manage the down at camp and migrate the down allowing it to loft a 10-20 minutes prior to sleep. My original review mentions cottage quality, and again this is not a 300$ cottage built quilt...but it is well worth the price they are asking, and a great multi use product being a sleeping bag/pod/underquilt and topquilt. I added to photos just showing that my wife and I actually used them. On the photos you can see the Aerie poking out of the hammocks. On this occasion we used them as topuilts.
