Received this item and was first missing one of the angle irons. Called the manufacturer and they said they would send one out right away and then waited for it for three weeks before calling back to learn they had forgotten to send it. Finally received angle iron and proceeded to continue to assemble and learned they had included cross pieces for their 12-foot model instead of the 9-foot model. Wow! Appears to be a fine product, but the poor package assembly has caused much frustration and additional time. Should be a lesson to this manufacturer. Disappointing.

Assembled and installed the windmill a week and a half ago, so far so good. Just want to elaborate on some of the tips given in other reviews. I built and erected mine by myself, and this thing will try your patience, it may be helpful to have a second set of hands around at times. Instructions could be better, but do take the time to read them thoroughly, and lay out all parts to get familiar with them. Great time saver. They sell this windmill and label it as ornamental, but keep in mind this thing will need to withstand strong winds, and I feel if installed per the instructions you could have problems. Mine has already encountered some 50 mph gusts in the first week of having it erected. I've installed mine on concrete deck post blocks, as I feel the provided anchor stakes are not sufficient were I live in the Midwest, and our soil conditions. These stakes are also not long enough to get below the frost line here and will heave in the spring time. With the blocks mine stands 12' tall so I also installed lightening protection. Use lock tight on any fastener that will be subjected to vibration. The two set screws that secure the blade mount and bearing to the shaft for instance. Don't even bother with the supplied allen wrench as it is worthless to tighten these properly. Instructions suggest that you should install the provided pressure washer at the front were strong winds may be encountered. Install it, and like another reviewer I took it a step further and drilled the shaft for a 3/32" cotter pin as a safety. During the first week I noticed one day that the bottom plastic bushing had worked it's way out of the mount, and the blade was being supported by the top bushing alone. Install a hose clamp on the bottom side of the mounting plate to keep this from happening. For the money this is a nice addition to the yard, just feel it needs a couple of tweaks to keep from having troubles down the road.

First, this is a very attractive unit. Assembly was not easy. It generates such force that it was necessary to secure the base in concrete--otherwise, it was unstable. The big problem is the head fan/blade unit. It is attached with a small hex screw against the shaft. This does not hold well and the blade was constantly coming off. The last time, it blew off with enough force that it ruined the blades. So, I go onto Water Solutions website to order a replacement. My computers both indicated a security risk with the website and would not allow me into their site. While that may be my software, it would still suggest some manner of website problem--it does not do this often. A strong cotter pin attachment for the head blade unit would make this an excellent product. While still in assembly, I would recommend drilling-out the shaft for a solid bolt or cotter pin attachment. To do so after the fact, as I will be doing if I can find a replacement blade, requires partial disassembly of the larger unit.

came missing two cross bars but company sent them out within a week. once assembled very sturdy poured a concrete pad and used anchors instead of rods supplied. has been spinning ever since. large blades and well balanced, doesnt take much wind at all to get action out of it. height is much more inmoressive than the smaller versions

I would suggest that the seller put one these together using the manufactures instructions!!! They would soon realize that instructions are missing steps all together which unless you use your common sense and have mechanical skills you wouldn't be able to complete, also these parts should be labeled a,b,c, etc... A lot of same parts but one piece may have holes, and the other doesn't, no mention of why or which one to use, other than that it is good quality except for the hardware is cheap.

We had a smaller version of a windmill that we purchased locally and my husband loved it. We had some wild winds and it blew over and that was the end of it. He wanted to replace it with a larger windmill. This one is perfect and several people have asked where we purchased it and of course we told them. This time we put it in cement so no chance of it blowing over.

Nice, solid looking ornamental windmill. Lay everything out first, read the instructions thoroughly before starting. Have a socket wrench and sockets on hand. The provided wrench worked pretty well, the Allen wrench was worthless. Having the cross braces per-assembled was very helpful. I had mine loosely put together in a little over an hour. Tightening all the bolts and Tension system took well over 30 minutes. When placing the tower legs, have the oval holes at the top and the round ones at the bottom. This made it easier to put the bolt through each hole. I turned it on its' side as instructed after each assembly and that worked fine. The kicker was the windmill head installation. That took some time, and the instructions are not the best. If your windmill head comes with a nylock nut that is placed on the threads of the fan support shaft, you can ignore the instructions concerning the pushnut fastener, it doesn't come with it. Once done, put up and anchored, we are very pleased with it. It definitely looks good in our front yard. It spends quite easily in a stiff light breeze. Would definitely buy this product again.
