Spilsbury is a fascinating figure! Thompson did a great job of spelling out his Particular Baptist theology in a way that brings him to life despite the absence of historical record about the man other than his theological writings.
I found the explanation of Spilsbury's theology well organized, easy to read and documented thoroughly. Very satisfying.
This is a work I will be coming back to and meditating on for many years to come.
Great piece of work. I'm recommending it to my Presbyterian Sunday School class and to every Baptist I know..
One small correction would be that the author locates Seventh day Adventists origins in 17th century England. This should be Seventh day Baptist.
If you are a Baptist with any interest in your history (which is grand) get the book (get two so you can give one to your pastor) and enjoy the read!
