I gave four stars because I was a bit disappointed in the women, they tended to be on the quick to cry, easily hurt side. I do relate to this type and perhaps that is why I was disappointed in them. Generally I don't read about women who seem so normal. However, I also get that this series focused on the men and their caveman attitudes (super alpha male) towards their women. I'm hopeful in the follow on series that the women show a bit more backbone and remind everyone that they are intelligent with minds and opinions of their own. Given that Becky seems to be a take charge type of woman, I doubt that her sons would all want submissive wives.
These relationships move fast, and the shorter length (I think? there's no page numbers on my Kindle lol) of the stories keep the pace moving, and I found myself through them rapidly. Like I said, I loved this family, and if you can get past the caveman attitude (which is actually used as a description by the author!!) you'll really enjoy this series.

I did find when reading the books that the author left too many loose ends for me and, if buying individual books, you would need to buy the next book in the hopes to complete each couple’s stories. I did think that since I’d bought the full series that Andy and Laura’s story would be completed, sadly this is not the case.
The author states at the end of the collection that she will be writing a new series: The Freissens: A New Beginning – Book 1 Deadline starts with a continuation of Andy and Laura’s story. Who knows if she then goes on to write another one about them or the other couples from the first series, or if she completes Andy and Laura’s story.
If this is how you like your books then go ahead and buy it and enjoy the rest of the series. If you enjoy alpha males, angst, heartbreak with a good romance, bearing in mind you’ll have to buy more to tie up the loose ends, then go for it.
I do buy books from authors who write a series but only when they write a complete story and the follow up books are about other characters introduced in Book 1 or with a similar theme. If the author had written in her synopsis that this is how she writes I wouldn’t have bought and read the books and consequently written a poor review.
bk 1 The Forgotten Child... Love this author, her skill at being able to put pen to paper and get her story written with all the emotions and tensions required to pull at your heart strings. She got Trevor and his autism so right in the fist book.
bk 2 Hero.... Loved Jed. Diana seem a bit ditzy as a lawyer though. All the same a good read. Hope Emmily brought more jam for Jed when she visited - got to keep him sweet, especially on his honeymoon!!!
bk3 The Search.....Andy finally realises what a mess hes made of his life trying to please his father and do his dirty work. His life needs changing.
bk 4 The Awakening.....Andy finally wakes up to see what his family are like. With parents like Any has, who needs enemies? This story left me feeling more annoyed than happy. Such an injustice - The parents, the Judge, the social workers and those foster parents, not to mention the senator - Can you see steam coming out of my ears as I type this?
bk 5 Secrets.....An emotional roller coaster. Well written. Brought tears to my eyes in places. Andy helps Jed and Diana, the only family he want to be associated with. He now has his own wife, and has to sort out his own life to be able to have a good future.
bk 6 Runaway... Andy and Laura are having problems within their marriage. Once she leaves him, she finds out she carrying twins. Her m-in-l is such a bitch, and plots to have the twins taken away from Laura. Once Andy finds out, he decides the fate of them all. A roller coaster of a read.
bk 7 Overdue......The family give Andy support once they know whats been hatched by Andys mother. Diana, Jeds wife, lawyer and mother is over due with the birth to their second child... complications.
bk 8 The Unexpected Storm.... Neil and Candys storyline, the brother who everything he touches turns to gold, Meets the girl of his dreams, but shes not sure that he likes her for herself or for the prime land she owns, as he wants to build a luxury resort on it.
bk 9 The Wedding.......This family certainly have had their fair share of drama.. a sad read, but like all families they come to terms with events and move on
I have truly enjoyed this boxed set even though I have needed a huge box of tissues.
The story moves onto another series called the Friessens - New Beginnings.
I could have screamed, most of the time !. I loved everyone of these stories.
I cryed for Jed, when I thought he wasn't going to survive the Tumor. And Caroline, the witch from hell was unbelievable.
I can't wait to read the next series The Deadline. Well done to the Author.
