I will agree with many others that the instructions SUCK! However, if you have basic tools and are able to assemble box furniture, you should be able install this. I am 66 and had no problem doing it alone.
The rest is easy to figure out. Oh yeah , after the awnings have been out in the hot Oklahoma sun at 100° for 2 weeks they have really faded. Glad I didn't use them on my house.
The awnings themselves were well made and of good quality.
on the other hand, the installation was a bit problematic.
They come pre-assembled, and have to be dis-assembled for installation.
The mounting brackets have to be removed to fasten them to the wall, etc.
The lanyard used to roll the awnings up pass through a hole in the left bracket.
The lanyard also passes through the stay fixture which is used to adjust the height of the awning.
The lanyard is folded over and sewn so it will not slip through the stay fixture.
The lanyard must be removed so the wall bracket can be removed for installation.
Tear the sewn folds at the end of the lanyard apart so it will pull through the stay.
Catch the serrated roller as it will fall out of the stay. It shouldn't, but it does.
Install the mounting brackets, snap the awning assembly into them, screw the stay to the wall,
feed the lanyard through the hole in the bracket and the stay, push the roller up in to the stay
and hold your finger over the hole so it doesn't fall back out as you adjust the desired height of the awning.
Tie a knot in the end of the lanyard so it won't slip through the stay. If you readjust the awning position
without putting your finger over the hole in the bottom of the stay, be prepared to crawl around on the ground
looking for the now elusive roller. The roller isn't camo, but eerily blends in with whatever it lands on.
