UPDATE (2017-08-16): I've been using the bowl everyday for about 3 months now. It's definitely not waterproof. As the bottom gets damp and some water may seep through, just like a backpack would if you left it out in the rain. But I specifically use this to provide water for my dog when we're at the park and it's always resting over some grass anyway so no big deal.
Aside from that, the collapsible bowl still works fine and all the stitching still in tact. I spray it with a hose when we get home and leave it out in the sun to dry. Occasionally I throw it in a bucket with some dish soap and warm water.
This product definitely works as advertised.
I got the small, 24 ounce bowl for $3.99 and have a medium 35 pound Goldendoodle. I probably should have got the large but I thought that for a travel bowl, the smaller one would be fine. But the mouth is just narrow enough that it is a little tight for my dog to stick his snout in all the way to drink when the water level gets low. He still can, just that his snout when he opens his mouth hits the sides of the bowl.
We travel a lot with our dog in the car, or on day trips and need a way to give him water. If we are camping in one spot we bring his metal bowls to leave water in all day--this product is not a substitute for that type of need. The fabric holds the water very well for when we take a break and pour some water into it, when we are done with our break we pour the water out and put this bowl back into its stored location. I haven't tried leaving water in it for long periods of time.
It feels like it is made from high quality materials...the fabric feels thick and I think this will last a long time.
I would say that if you have a large dog, get the larger size.
As mentioned in other reviews, this is not meant for holding water for long periods. Put some water in, let the dog drink, empty it and repack. Works fine for that. We have a 65lb Samoyed and it works for him.
I have it and a water bottle ready as he loves to drink his water after our adventures.
It is nice and deep and he shoves his nose in there and drinks up all the water. He does like if you pour the water into the bowl in front of his face so that he can drink from the bottle like its from a hose/water fountain. Just discovered that.
Good quality. Folds up nicely. Can have water in it and still fold the top up and put in the car cupholder for the next watering. Dries pretty fast.
Can set on the ground or hold in front of his face.
Unlike our no drip bowl at home, after he drinks from this there is water all over his face. So water everywhere. Not the best for use in the car because of this, but if that is where he drinks water, oh well.
