I have sincenordered from Amazon the old style that is beige and snaps on- no chance of accidentally getting burned and can use them to pull raks out and in.
Now, for the part that I would like to caution you all about: DO NOT leave these in the oven while you clean the oven. It will RUIN your oven. The directions clearly indicate that you should remove them before cleaning. However, if you are like me (and several of the other reviewers) and are capable of making a mistake - do not take a chance. Once these reach a certain temperature, they disintegrate and will leave a residue in your oven that cannot be scrubbed away. This residue is etched into our oven. I was worried about the toxicity of the residue and the manufacturer did respond to me stating that at high temperatures the product is toxic. I can only assume that the residue that cannot be removed is toxic as well. The residue is everywhere - etched into the surface to the glass, oven, inside the convection fan and on the heating element. We have had to replace our 3 year old double oven - a $3,000 mistake!! On another note, I did learn through this process that you should not leave the racks in the oven when you clean it, that will make their coating wear off.
I came tumbling down the stairs and discovered the kitchen filling with smoke. I turned off the oven and with a pair of kitchen tongs I removed the burning guard from the rack and dowsed it in the sink. By then the smoke detector sounded the alarm.
A thin coat of fine white ash had coated the inside of the oven, burners, racks and all. When I attempted wiped off the ash it fell to the bottom of the oven and the kitchen floor in tiny white clumps; that required a Dust buster VAC to suck it up. It took me over an hour the clean that oven. So heed my warning and don't buy these things, they are a "FIRE HAZARD!!!!"

I attached these to my oven racks and turned the oven on. Before the oven was completely heated, a very strong chemical odor came from the oven. It was extremely noxious. Read morePublished 6 months ago by cflores
