Lee Delgado was on a bright shining path. She was almost finished with her MBA in finance when she was forced into the witness protection program. Not only did she have to walk away from her educational accomplishments, she also had to walk away from the man she loved. That may be for the better because that man now holds a contract on her life.
Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca should of never crossed paths. Their families are mortal enemies. Both families are vying for the ultimate power in the Chicago area. The Savoca family was responsible for the Delgado’s mothers death. War has been declared.
What started out as a way to extract revenge and retribution turned into a passionate love affair until Lee crossed the line. In her quest to destroy the Savoca family , she placed a price on Oliver’s head by his own father. Now he is seeking retribution.Read more ›
I hate to admit this, but the covers on these books are what first drew me in. The art work is intriguing. I’m glad I got started on this series and look forward to the next one. Although the story-lines are a bit of a stretch at some points, the characters themselves pull at my heartstrings. The Delgado family sticks with you; the more I think about it, the more I remember that I liked many aspects of the books and I like the author’s writing style.
SOME BACKGROUND: Lisa Desrochers ON THE RUN series focuses on the once powerful and rich Delgado family-five siblings, in witness protection, whose father, currently in jail, is the head of one of the most powerful crime families in Chicago. After an attack that was intended to kill the family, the Delgado children –ages 9 to 25 years-are relocated to Florida with a new identity while their father continues to control things behind bars.
Told from alternating first person points of view (Lee and Oliver) OVER THE LINE follows the rekindling of a forbidden relationship between Lee Delgado and Oliver Savoca. The Delgado and Savoca families are rivals in the Chicago underground crime scene, and part of the reason the Delgado family is now in the Witness Protection program-far away from their father’s rival and the syndicate he runs. When Oliver Savoca locates the woman who stole more than his heart, the Delgado family find themselves preparing to run once again.
OVER THE LINE is a story line told using memories from the past and present day focusing on the previous relationship between Lee and Oliver; their need to uncover family secrets, to destroy one another’s lives, and a love that has never faltered between two college sweethearts. As Oliver finds himself facing down his potential future, the Delgado family faces a choice no one wants to make.Read more ›
Love Lee's character. Such a nurturer but fiercely protective of her family. Liked the back story between her and Oliver. I like the overarching theme of family that the author has run throughout the book. The Delgado's may have grown up in a crime family but it doesn't diminish the fact that they love fiercely and stand for each other no matter what happens. Family is also not always those of your blood. Sometimes it’s those we chose to let in. And sometimes, even if they are blood, we do everything in our power to not associate with them.
The story is told by alternating with flashback and present moment. We see the rest of the siblings as well. This is not a stand alone as the story line progresses forward from the previous book.
I have a feeling each book in this series will be more and more intense as the Delgado's get closer to finding the person who put a hit out on the family. Great read! Love the author. Can't wait to see who has gotten under Grant's skin!
