I give it a 5 star rating and highly recommend it.
So... I'm going to have to read this book twice, if not more. I can already see it. Firstly I am read it the first time through to get everything in my head, but to be honest I didn't journal. I do, however, have a nice new journal that is just for this book!
One thing I really loved about this is the concise, short but sweet information. Each chapter consists of one or two pages maybe with some anecdotes thrown in, but they are all really easy to understand and most are easy to relate to. I can see applying these tidbits of information to my life and was already expressing my appreciation to the hubster before I was even on page 25!
With each of these short chapters are the journalling portions. When I started reading I debated on whether or not I really wanted to journal but with just a few chapters in I knew the journalling would really help tell me about myself. And the questions are guidelines but they are very precise and I can see how they would be useful to growth.
Although it is 280 pages I read the chapters in chunks and those 280 flew by. I could see adding in the journal and it taking me two months or just thumbing through to the things that I want to reiterate.
In short: The advice is fantastic and can be applied to everyone. The chapters are short and easy to read! I definitely recommend this to everyone!
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read for an honest review!
I was interested in this book as soon as I heard about it.. It's not a long book. I tried to just take it a chapter at a time and try to absorb it. Another thing I liked about the book is it's not a preachy book. It's just a helpful book about trying to get over all the stuff that is holding yo back. In order to get over things, you have to be willing to change. You have to be willing to accept and move on. If you are going to keep all the bad things deep in the dark crevices of your brain, you will never move on with your life. You have to take those bad things and go over them. Think about why you are holding on to them. Is it worth putting your life in limbo to keep them in your brain and letting them fester? They are like a blister, it festers and festers until it breaks and then it heals. That is what will allow you to heal. Letting that blister break. Getting rid of the hurt and the bad things you have been holding on to. I believe anyone that sincerely wants to rid themselves of those bad things and finally say, "OVER IT" should read this book. If you are wanting that change, this book may help you. The author has written of her own experiences which shows everyone has something they want to change or get over. Don't believe for a minute that you are beyond help because you're not. You just have to put the effort and challenge yourself to reach whatever goal you have. It won't be easy but it can be done.Everyone has problems, issues and struggles in their lives. Holding on to them doesn't solve anything.
I was given a complimentary copy of OVER IT from the author, Mary Buchan for my view of the book. No other compensation took place.
Ms. Buchan teaches us coping skills and journaling. We need to get rid of the negative stuff we bury deep inside.
I found this book very enlightening. I did have to admit to myself I still carry some demons from my childhood. I need to deal with them, but no one ever gave me the skills to do that. I now have a better understanding for getting rid of these demons. I thank Ms. Buchan for the help she gave me. You'll find this book useful and engaging. I recommend this one to everyone. Not just those who know they have demons, but to others who just want to find a better way to work through daily stress. This book should be required reading for everyone over age 13.
I didn't find any issues with this one.
I gave this one 5 cheers out of 5 because it helped me in a wonderful way.
