Recently my friend expressed that she wished she had brought this backpack instead of her normal backpack to Panama, where it rained the entire time. She trash-bagged the contents of her backpack and everything was fine, but the outside also got thrashed from branches, thorns, etc. This Overboard backpack is built with thick material (added weight) that looks like it could withstand a lot of land abuse as well.
My only gripe is that it only has one, netted internal pocket. I love organizer pockets.
Back from my trip to Nicaragua. Still love it! We didn't have as much rain as we expected, but nothing ever got wet when it did rain. My only "druther" WAS one of the things I liked about it ... no compartments inside. I would now recommend getting a smaller compartmentalized travel bag / purse to put in it. Otherwise all the small things you are carrying sift to the bottom and you spend a lot of time digging through the bottom of the bag to recognize what you are looking for by feel. That's MINOR. Great backpack!
I had originally ordered the 30 liter pack, but received the 20 liter, which has a small zip pocket inside. The pocket is convenient and the size perfect for a bicycle or motorcycle in addition to the more visible yellow outer lining. The company promptly realized their mix-up and shipped me the 30 liter bag. I received numerous phone calls from Ryan at their shop to apologize for the mix up and emails insuring my 30 liter bag had arrived. I was impressed with their sincerity and integrity. They even sent return postage and shipping labels for me to return the 20 liter, which I shall do tomorrow. For my purposes--hiking in the high desert--I did need the extra 10 liters of space. I would recommend the 20 liter for commuting and the 30 liter for hiking/camping. I would purchase another Overboard Pack when this one wears out, but it's heavy duty construction and reenforced straps, it may actually outlast me!
