Looking forward to the next publication by Nesha Pai already.
Prior to the release of this book I had followed Nesha's firm, Pai CPA PLLC, (I am a CPA also) for several years. I have always been impressed watching her develop a unique brand, grow her firm, and build a networking group. She stays busy!
When I saw that she was releasing a book I purchased it just out of curiosity. I had never met Nesha but having seen how hard she works and her brand building ability I thought it could be interesting. I really had no idea what the book was about, or any expectations for it. I certainly did not know anything about her background or career path.
During all the disruption of 2020 I, like many others, found myself in a funk. With the time of quarantine, I had begun to question myself. Where was my life going, what was my purpose, did I really enjoy what I was currently doing? This funk is what made the timing so perfect for me.
As I read through the chapters I developed a whole new respect for Nesha. Not only is she an entrepreneur, but she is also an expert in overcoming adversity. She has faced and defeated so many difficulties that would stop most in their path. Nesha chose not to accept her circumstances, stay stagnant, or continually feel sorry for herself. Instead she has turned obstacles into opportunities and exploited those opportunities to manifest her dreams. Most importantly, along her journey she learned the importance of self-love and value of her faith.
So much resonated with me. Our career paths are somewhat similar, and she has achieved several life time dreams of mine. I have finally begun to accept many things that I long struggled with and so often ignored. I am in control of my life. I am responsible for my happiness. I can make changes at any time; and the longer I stay stagnant the more distant my dreams will become.
Below are my key takeaways:
-Often things do not go the way you hoped or planned – Going with Plan B – The sooner you accept this reality and learn to pivot, the better off you will be.
-Everyone has the option to control the direction of their life, if you do not exercise the option someone else will control it for you – Manifesting Your Dreams – Do not be stopped by fear, listen to yourself, be confident and bet on yourself.
-You can make changes at any time –Taking The Leap & Making Your Own Lane – Once you can face (and embrace) change, the sooner you can walk away from the ordinary and take steps to achieve the extraordinary.
-Self-love and faith are not to be underestimated – Removing the Barriers to Love & Rejecting Dogma and Finding God - Developing a love for yourself is fundamentally important, without it you will always struggle to love others. Finally (but no less important), when you develop and lean on your faith all things are possible. A constant reminder that even when it is not apparent, there is a greater plan in play. Through this – fear less, accept situations beyond your control, and live with grace, patience and forgiveness.
For me it just so happened that the timing of this book was perfect. I was already in the process of exploring change and some new opportunities. After reading and reflecting on this book it totally reinforced what I was beginning to realize. It was time to shake things up. Along with many considerations (including a conversation with Nesha!) I decided to redirect my path. I am now 100% in control of my career and the direction that it takes. I am actively paying attention to all decisions that I make, ensuring that they are intentional and helping to achieve my goals. I am refocusing on myself, my relationship, and discovering what makes me genuinely happy.
I know that if I continue to recognize complacency and push myself to overcome obstacles, I will achieve an extraordinary life! Hopefully with some luck and hard work I will see the same success that Nesha has!
Nesha – Thank you for taking the time to share your story! It has been a tremendous motivator for me, and a constant reminder that anything is possible when you learn to overcome obstacles and embrace change!
What inspires me most about her story is her fundamental belief in herself and trust in her God-given intuition, and the way it shapes her relationship to (perceived) failure. In a word, she made and continues to make lemonade out of lemons, and trust in a higher power to guide her in the right direction. She also discovers the power and joy in helping others, which is truly transformative and can frequently catapult a person out of depression and self-doubt into a world where service is its own reward.
The book often reads like a long, newsy letter from a friend you haven’t seen in many years; that is, easily accessible and conversational in its tone. I don’t think she’s trying to become some kind of self-help guru. I see the book as an act of service, where she shares her experience, strength and hope with the world. Undoubtedly it will spark inspiration, creativity, self-confidence or recognition in those who read it.
