Have you ever read a book and said to yourself, “I picked the right one this time?” When I read this book, it was like I was looking at myself in a mirror. Is this really me? It touched me in so many places in my spirit, God got my attention this time.
The author, Colleen M. Story, wrote this book for and to writers young and old who have a desire to write (books, blogs, articles, etc.), but just do not know how to get started. Let me say this now, it takes out all your excuses for not writing or having the time to write. It shows you how to increase your productivity in writing and how to take the time bandits out of your life. But most of all, it shows you–how we are our greatest enemy. Are you ready to deal with the truth about yourself? This book is for you. Are you ready to take your writer self seriously? This book is for you. Are you ready to walk and live the life of a skilled writer? Then this book is for you.
Liked About the Book: Everything, even the test.
Disliked About the Book: Not one thing.
In closing, this book saved my writer’s self. It showed me I was born to write, but I am trained as a writer. I believe the author’s goals were clear in helping writers like myself to know our writing abilities, what is hindering us from writing, how to be true to ourselves and how to get onto the road of recovery. I pray you read this book get the same results as I did, or even more.

"The entire book is well-written, enlightening and inspirational, but if I had to pick a section that resonates most with me, it would have to be Part III: Outwit Your Brain's Productivity Saboteurs, which outlines the seven specific personality traits that sabotage your most well-intentioned efforts. The way Story describes myindividual productivity thieves such as perfectionism, workaholism, andsetting destructive goals - it's almost like she knows me! Seriouslythough, these chapters will help you understand your biggest stumblingblocks and set you on a more productive course. The final section wrapsthings up nicely, presenting four skills writers must learn for along, productive career in writing.
Overall, I highly recommend Overwhelmed Writer Rescue by Colleen M. Story. I discovered more than a handful of items aboutmyself and my practices that hinder my ability to be my best creativeself. I recommend taking your time going through each chapter and section of the book. If there is a survey - take it, if there is an activity or writing prompt/assignment - do it! They are well worth the time! Thoughgeared toward writers, I believe this book would be a successful tool for anyone wanting to learn how to overcome procrastination and your natural productivity obstacles to increase motivation and free up more time fordoing the things you love."

"I was positively surprisedat the wealth of information contained in OverwhelmedWriter Rescue by Colleen M. Story. I expected more of the same, as I'veread many books on writing and being a writer. This one stands out from theothers (at least for me) because the advice given is not only useful for yourlife as a writer, but also for your life in general. I also learned a few newthings, e.g. I wasn't aware of the existence of time personalities and how thisaffects writing (and life in general). The book was a very refreshing read asthe author clearly knows how annoying it is when you tell a writer - or anybody- that positive thinking and affirmations will get you where you want to be, ifonly you are positive enough. To me, it always seems like a personal attack ifa book tells me I don't get what I want because I am not positive andsmiley-happy-chappy enough. Most introverts will probably be able to relate.
This book offers a widevariety of solutions....I was delighted to find some ideas that seem like theywere written down just for writers like me... Even if you don't struggle withyour writing, this book can be a great resource to keep you on track and remindyou of what's really important."

Truly helpful book! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it (I had a pre-production galley), and was inspired to make changes in my life that have carved out more time than I would have thought possible for writing and other things that matter to me. As a small business owner and part-time student with no natural organization skills, I'm always looking for ways to tame my chaos and squeeze in creativity, somewhere. Lots of times I read books on productivity and organization, and end them thinking, "Those are great ideas, but I can't do them." Not this time! Following the practical advice in this book, I have made some surprisingly easy schedule adjustments that have opened up hours each day.

Possibly there is some useful info somewhere in this book. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the first few chapters, which mostly dealt with the "you will never find your sugar daddy/ mama, so suck it up and find another way to make writing happen." I guess that's great advice for anyone who actually dreams of the Cinderella story happening to them, but for the other 99% of adults with even a modicum of real-life experience under our belt, it was frankly patronizing and ridiculous advice.
I might go back to the TOC at some point to see if there is anything useful to be had from this book, but frankly, if I could still do so, I'd get a refund.

Just in time help from an author/writer who has been down the same road. Ms Story breaks the book into digestible chunks and never bogs the reader down with too much verbiage. The help tips are well researched and backed up with facts. She dispels myths and wrong-headed thinking about the writing process and the struggles we all face along the journey. It is a refreshing as well as inspirational read. Highly recommend!

Honestly, I think all writers should get this book in 2020. I’d buy this for any author with a family, trying to keep loved ones well, keeping up with homeschoolers and still trying to write. This book not only taught me guerrilla tactics, it also helped me relax and let go - allowing myself to write when I can.

So many new ideas about the writing process and how my brain works. Things I had never considered before. Very though provoking, and some good ideas for rethinking your own process and schedule.

This book touched on few issues I was having in my own writing life and offered reasonable solutions that can be implemented right away. Now it's time for me to put some of those solutions into practice. Great book. Highly recommended.
