Though Overwhelmed can technically be read as a stand-alone, I do highly recommend reading Torn from You first. There is a lot that gets referenced throughout this story and I really think that it’ll help give you a better appreciation and understanding of the character relationships found here. And don’t go into this expecting a dark read like the first book. Ream is not Logan and this is not a recycled story. That being said, I really think you’ll enjoy it just as I did!

While Emily and Logan were away in what they knew was a dangerous situation, Kat and Ream found solace in each other. What began as a beautiful friendship soon blossomed into more, surprising them both. They were very guarded people and never expected to let someone in even a little, but you can’t always control who inches their way into your heart.

But then a long kept secret is revealed and everything falls apart. Ream, not knowing how to handle things, storms out, leaving Kat hurt and angry. While he was away on tour, she had plenty of time to build more walls around her heart, ensuring that no one would be able to get close enough to hurt her again.

Now he’s home and things are more confusing than ever. He wants her back and will stop at nothing to have her again. She knows that he has secrets of his own, but can she learn to trust him again? Just as things start to look up for them both, his twisted past catches up to them and threatens to ruin everything once and for all. Will they be able to make it through hand in hand, or will everything prove to be too overwhelming for them both?

When I saw the animosity that Kat and Ream had for each other in Torn, I knew that I wanted their story.

I had a few issues with the book. (Might be spoilers) 1. Kat and Ream seemed so immature. He told her one thing, she argues, and he says I will make you. It just gets old and doesnt allow the relationship to ever develop.
2. I felt like this book was predictable. I kept waiting for something to happen or for Ream to start dealing with his problems but he never really does. I like it when my characters can heal and you feel it. Kat has the medical issue that she keeps from all her friends and Ream is going to break her down so she can "feel". For someone who wants to be supportive of her he has a funny way of showing it.
3. I absouletly hated the way Logan and Emily acted in this book. Logan is a jerk who can't show any emotion who commands Emily. Emily seems shy and timid and easily submits. I just felt like these two people weren't the same people in their book. It was disappointing. I think this is why it kinda ruined the book for me.. Everyone else seemed to love it so maybe its just me?

I usually don't like "rock star" heroes and I abhor the man-whore hero; so put them together and the only reason I read the book was because I was sort of hooked in having already read Tear Asunder Book 1. Imagine my surprise when Ream was one of my favorite characters. He was not at all your typical man-whore. He was severely traumatized and I felt really bad for the guy.

Kat, the heroine I did not like much at all. Especially in the beginning where she came off as completely self absorbed, self important and unreasonable. The conflict starts when Kat and Ream have a "big misunderstanding". Ream freaks...and OK...acts like a crazy person. But he comes back a few days later and explains that he just needed to process things and this is the point where any normal person would have realized that something was up and do the whole "Hey, noticed you really over reacted and I'm wondering....did anything BAD ever happen to you?" But not Kat. She just tells him she doesn't do "second chances", his loss, don't really care what kind of trauma you may or may not have had because, well this is all about shove off and let me stick my tongue down this random guy's throat in front of you so you get the message. I really thought she was a raving witch with a "b".

At about 50% on my kindle edition Kat started talking about her other issues and it made her emotional reactions make more sense, and I did start to develop some empathy towards her. (But in my defense none of this came out until about 50%, up until that point she was spouting her "second chance" philosophy like a spoiled 5 year old).

I also felt this was the point at which the story seemed to drag and I honestly considered briefly not finishing because I was bored.

4.5 Stars
Slight Spoilers Ahead..... Be Warned

OK, I LOVED and I mean super-duper LOVED the first 2 books (Emily and Logan, GAHHHHHH love them, HIM lol)and I went into this book with such excitement. I totally loved this book but what stopped me at the 4.5 Star rating was Kat. She was just too over the top stubborn for me. I absolutely LOVED and so adored Ream, yes as much as Logan. The other issue I had, and yes, a very minor one was the 2 yr 8 month separation??? I get the 8 months because of the tour but the other 2 years, I didn't get that and that didn't work for me? I totally loved the twist at the end and when Kat got to "Molly's" and found what she found, I was beside myself....yep, heart racing, sick feeling, etc..... but as the rest of the book unfolded, it was just so freaking swoon worthy good... Yes I did love Kat by the last half of the book and loved her so much more by the end, I just wished she hadn't been so pig headed for so much time, lol!!!!

Anyways, I still super-super LOVE Logan and Emily, LOVE Ream and Kat and I cannot wait to read more about the rest of the gang!!!!!

Congrats on another terrific book in this series:)
