Anne is a fun chef to watch on tv, so I thought this cookbook might be fun as well. Her little stories are very enjoyable and I love her great hints. It might be a good idea, though, for her to mention what might serve as s substitute for an ingredient that may not be readily available at our local small market? And Her asides regarding "this is a 'do ahead' " is extremely helpful!!
Just an idea re: the substitutions :-))
best part for me?? Her salads and appetizers!!

Great book with some fun tasty recipes. Not the same old thing but not something that's too far out there for the family. Love her commentary too!

I love Anne's cooking, especially the recipes from "Secrets of a Restaurant Chef," but some of the recipes in her cookbook don't make sense. For example, for the "Garlic Chicken and Israeli Couscous" recipe. The photo does not match what the ingredients dictate. Also, the directions make no sense. For the step when you add the thyme bundle and bay leaf, it says to add them and then take them out, without saying how much time to cook them. The recipes do have flavor, but I highly suggest that you compare the recipe with the Food Networks' version and make a hybrid recipe.

This is a very practical and modern cookbook. I really like the approach to get control of your kitchen. For those of us that never had the great opportunity to go to cooking school, this helps to add to our basic knowledge in a common sense way.

Wonderful modern recipies that are not complicated/stuffy where simple and accessible ingredients resutl in a dishes that impress! This book is great for a busy professional who loves to cook but does not have ample time to play around in the kitchen!! Glad I made the investment in "Own Your Kitchen".

Anne makes the recipes look very easy to make. The pictures of the recipes let you know what the final product will look like.
