Like other herbivores, a chinchilla requires daily fiber to maintain a healthy digestive system. When served with oxbow loose grass hays, the farm-fresh alfalfa in chinchilla Deluxe - chinchilla food provides the necessary fiber, balanced with a specially formulated blend of stabilized nutrients to meet the distinctive needs of this small Animal species. Feed oxbow chinchilla Deluxe - chinchilla food to chinchillas of all ages to maintain intestinal health and prevent digestive upset.

Oh… and by the way, Oxbow has just put out Timothy Hay Wheels which are about 2-3" high and 3-4" in diameter (you get 5 or 6 wheels in each box). The hay is really tightly packed so the chins have to rip, tear, pull and gnaw it apart to eat it AND THEY LOVE IT! It's costly, very costly, but because it's so tightly packed it lasts a really long time and once again, hay needs to be the majority food source for chins and they appreciate some variety just like we do. In my mind, Oxbow is the gold standard of chin food and supplies and I'm happy to pay their price to keep my kids healthy. I've seen too much of what poor food choices can cost and I don't just mean financially. Seeing my kids in pain and suffering for my lack of knowledge and action was enough to convert me. We all paid the price, I finally wised up and made the switch and I have their obvious change in health over time as proof that I won't cut corners where they are concerned again. Oxbow pellets and hay are it for my kids and now they all jump up on my lap for their nightly Oxbow "treat" and I feel as good about giving it to them as they do about getting it.
Having 4 chins (Dad, Mom and the 2 kids… Luna, Zhin, Chianna and Yoda) is a big responsibility but the babies came because I didn't get my rescued male Luna fixed fast enough to keep him from getting my rescued female Zhin preggars and since I'm responsible for the babies being here I stepped up to own their care as well because I'm so afraid I wouldn't have been able to find a suitable forever home for them. So please, believe me when I say that I've spent the last 7 years learning, sometimes the hard way, about what works and what doesn't for our furry little buddies. Oxbow works and it's worth it in peace of mind and lower vet bills!
Thanks for letting me ramble on… I'm really passionate about my babies.
