If you have a stinky washing machine and/or if you feel like your clothes aren't smelling fresh after they're washed, buy this product because it fixes that.
Some comments re: the folks giving this a low rating because:
1) The product clumps in your HE washer's liquid detergent dispenser - Well, per Step 2 on the package (see my photo), this is a powder cleaner that is supposed to be dumped directly into the drum. Don't worry about it falling into the little holes. It's gonna be okay; it's gonna do what it was designed to do. If you put it in your HE washer's liquid dispenser, you didn't follow the instructions, & it's gonna clump up and not work as advertised.
2) The product's odor - well, the drain pipe on my HE washer smelled like raw sewage (wife's words) when I started a wash cycle. I thought a "washer cleaner" was a little silly (aren't I cleaning it every time I run a load of wash?), but I have seen the light. After several years of use and literally hundreds (if not 1000+) of washes, the drain pipe smelled like rotten eggs and my wife wanted to call a plumber because the smell was so bad she thought our house's drain was backed up. I do the laundry in the house, and I'm cheap, so I thought I'd try a cleaner first, and this OxiClean cleaner resolved the odor AFTER ONE TREATMENT. I use dye- and odor-free detergent, so I'm not a total fan of its fragrance (side note: do y'all who use detergent with scents actually LIKE smelling like Gain or Tide all day, like it's some sort of cologne/perfume? This confuses and fascinates me, but I digress...), but it goes away after a wash or two. My washer no longer smells like sewage, and we didn't have to hire a plumber, so I'm grateful for an inexpensive and effective fix.

I followed the instructions and used it once/week for 3 weeks just to ensure I truly got all of the stank out, and I believe I have, so I'm thrilled. How To Use

If odor is a problem or visible residue already exists, use one pouch per week for three consecutive weeks following these instructions. For all machines, remove clothing or other items from washer. Tear open one pouch of OxiClean Washing Machine Cleaner and pour into the washer drum. Note: Do not add any detergent to this cycle. Select the “Clean Washer Cycle”. If washer does not have this cycle, add OxiClean Washing Machine Cleaner to drum and run a normal cycle using hot water. Start the machine. |
After the cycle is complete, wipe any residue that may be left behind with a towel, including on drum, door, rubber gaskets and seals. Leave the door open to allow for better ventilation. |

I was hesitating to order this because of some comments saying that is smell bad. Honestly try it for yourself it may just be that their washer is older and it has never been cleaned or some other issue. My washer is 3 years old and it is my first time using any cleaner like this. It took the bad smell away and it smells delicious and NOT a strong scent at all. Don't be discouraged by the bad comments.
