Each Bag contains 10 - 2,000cc oxygen absorbers made by OxySorb with indicator freshness pill/eye. When used with proper packaging and sealing, the oxygen in the packaging is greatly reduced. Our absorbers bring the oxygen level down reliably to .01% or less. These Absorbers are perfect when combined with 5-6 gallon Mylar Bags. The benefits of using oxygen absorbers are as follows: * Significantly improves keeping qualities of polyunsaturated fats and oils * Helps retain fresh-roasted flavor of coffee and nuts * Prevents oxidation of spice oleoresins present in spices themselves and in seasoned foods * Prevents oxidation of vitamins A, C and E * Extends life of pharmaceuticals * Inhibits mold in natural cheeses and other fermented dairy products * Delays non-enzymatic browning of fruits and some vegetables * Inhibits oxidation and condensation of red pigment of most berries and sauces.

As an addendum, I have since gotten new absorbers and sealed the mylar bags with an iron set on Cotton. I got a great vacuum seal and the bag tightened up wonderfully against the item stored within a few hours. All was well. The problem was trusting the ziplock seal on the mylar bag. I hope you will learn from my mistake.
First, the indicating eye does not work, which is suspect. It's pink which should indicated no oxygen, take it out of the bag and days later it has not changed color.
Second, I agree with the listing, one of these should be adequate for a 20x30 mylar bag. However, three didn't even absorb the air in mine which indicates they were not even close to 100% when they were packaged. When these are exposed to oxygen they should get very warm until the chemical reaction is complete and the absorbers are spent. Once I cut these out of the bag they barely heated up and 3-4 in each bag didn't even get warm.
Second, they come with an "oxy eye" indicator but there is no clue as to how to read it. In any case, all mine where pink, which some people say means they are good and some say mean they are bad but either way, the oxy eye has stayed pink and its now been two days since I opened it.
The absorbers however, do seem to work, just not right away. I threw one in a 5 gallon bucket of rice and left one out to test. At first nothing happened, the packet I left out did not get hot and the bucket did not seem to generate a vacuum. However, when I checked a couple hours later the packet was hot and the bucket lid had sucked down so obviously these do work, just not as fast as you may expect. This product could really benefit from some instructions.
These are 2000cc absorbers which are great for 5 gal buckets packed with minimal excess air space (I used mine for sugar and beans). Typically it's recommended to use 500cc x 3 for 5 gal buckets so I thought this would be a good purchase. They come individually packed in sets of 10 with an O2 indicator inside the package (looks like a pink eye). The eye will turn purple upon being exposed to air (it took about 2-3 minutes before mine turned color). I only used 5 initially so I used my food-saver vacuum packer to seal the remaining 5 for later use.
Overall great experience so far. Be Prepared.
The 5 gallon buckets (Food-grade buckets purchased from Lowes [approx. $5.40 after purchasing gasket lid]) were individually filled with various long-term foods (Sugar & Beans). I tossed one of these on top before installing the lid. After one day the lids have been sucked down tightly and all the air has been absorbed. The 5 gallon bucket feels like a solid brick now. My only problem now is opening that sucker!
Would I recommend them to friends and family, YES. Be Prepared.
i know that my seal is good. i am using one those hand sealers. and i am using a pump and seal. my sealed mylar bags still look like bricks but that is due to how i package them by using sealing the bags and then pricking a pinhole into them and using the pump and seal to remove the oxygen from the bags before final seal. that works. but when i tried to seal a bag without using the pump and seal and only using one of these oxygen absorbers (i pout two per one gallon mylar bag and three per five gallon mylar bag) and it did not work. this has been my experience with this product. if i ever do try this product again send me good ones instead of bad batches!
