Right out of the box, there was a small cut near the door. I say cut because the edges were perfectly clean. I figured this was a manufacturer defect. Since my trip was in 2 days, there was no way I would have time to return it, so I utilized the patch kit that came with it. Really bad call. The patch was falling off by the second day, (sliding down the side, so maybe the sun melted the inferior glue). Luckily, I had some tenacious tape with me, and that held beautifully, but realized their patch kit is completely worthless.
EASE OF SETUP
This was definitely easy. Takes a bit of muscle, but it was up in 2 minutes. This is the only thing good about this tent.
This is the most inferior tent I have ever used. I am an avid ultralight backpacker, so I am used to being very careful with my gear (.3 oz. cuben fiber). On the very first use, when I put the tent away, I noticed numerous problems on the bottom of the tent. They were not cuts, they were all abrasion wear. Seriously? I used an entire roll of tenacious tape repairing them. The walls of the tent are a strong nylon, but the floor is like you see in those super thin crappy Walmart tarps. It might, (and I emphasize might) be ok if you only camp on grass. Forget about camping on sand or gravel, (rules out the entire Southwest).
On the second use, I discovered that where the tent folds, (on the bottom joint that folds the poles in) there was a 2" tear. This wasn't there when I put it away, so it's obviously a stress point, due to the horribly bad floor, combined with bad design.
You can get much better tents for less money, that will actually hold up over time. The poor fabric choice for the tent floor makes this one completely unusable, and I ended up throwing it out after the second use.
