I kept comparing the sound between the Bose AE2 and P5s and felt that the AE2 was so much more clear in sounding. So, I ignored all the other reviewers and purchased a pair of the Beats Studio wireless headphones. When I initially got them, I thought they sounded so good, but after a few days, I couldn't deal with the hissing sound in the headphones so I returned them. After a while, I hated the way the Beats studio sounded. Not clear and the highs were to high. After going back to the P5s for a few days, I kept appreciating the P5s more.
So, I was still not convinced and I bought the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless cans and they sounded fantastic. When I compared them with the P5s, initially the P5s sounded muddy. The Momentums 2 are also fantastic headphones but the ANC felt like pressure against my ears and they looked so bulky so I decided to return them.
To summarize, here are my thoughts on all 3
Beats Studio - Sound quality = so so in my opinion
Momentum 2 - Sound quality = very good - if they had ANC on/off switch, I would still consider them to compete with the P5s
B&W P5 - Sound quality = very good, however takes about 15-20 hours to open up
Before I returned them, I kept comparing the sound between the P5s vs the Momentum 2s.
Trust me on this statement that the P5s take about 15-20 hours to completely break in. After using the headphones more and more, they started sounding way better. The muddy sound is gone and I think these are the best sounding Bluetooth headphones on the market.
If you are debating whether to get Beats, Sennheiser or any decent pair of cans, I would highly suggest you try the P5s (use them for a few days so they break in) to really experience a well made pair of headphones!
otherwise, these headphones are a 5 star.
new entry 11/2/15 - on a hunch i decided what if the reason the headphones do not automatically connect is because my iPad was not the primary device? so I cleared the pried devices list form the headphones per manual instructions. sure enough it started working. that meant there was another primary device already set on the headphones.
this brings me to another point:
the iPad was the one and only device i paired with the headphones so why was there another primary device already set on the headphones? Amazon sent me an item already purchased and returned is the only explanation. so now I am concerned if the headphones did not go thru some sort of checklist before it was resold to me, what else am I going to discover in the future ????
again the headphones are the best I have tried, but this does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling. 3 stars remain.
Pretty disappointed. Sound quality was not what I expected either. Hoping I got a lemon here...
