I have to say this micro ATX motherboard has a lot of features. Take for instance it has a single channel of EIDE good for two devices plus 6 SATA ports. Two of the ports are SATA 3 with the other four being SATA 2 and can be configured for RAID. In the back there are two USB 3 as well as four USB 2 ports. On the motherboard itself there are five headers that provides a total of 10 additional USB2 ports as well as a series and parallel printer port in the form of a header. But to use these you have to buy the optional connectors. Being a micro ATX motherboard there are only four slots for add-ons and they are starting at the top, a 16 X PCI express version 2 slot for a video card, two PCI slots and on the bottom there is a 4X PCI express version 2 slot for a second video card or PCI express device. An onboard eight channel HD audio and gigabit LAN. There are also three fan headers, a four terminal CPU, a second four terminal one for a case fan and a third three terminal one that can be used for the second case fan. The three fans are monitor in the bios for speed and the one with the four terminal can be controlled. This motherboard no longer has any ports for a floppy drive since that device is basically obsolete. The nice feature is it still retained a single channel of EIDE which is ideal in my situation since I can still continue to use my existing EIDE optical drives. Another thing that will become obsolete on future motherboards is the PS-2 ports being used by the mouse and keyboard being replaced by USB ones. This motherboard only has one PS-2 port being label as a combination which is good for you to use either a mouse or keyboard but not both. This is the reason why I have to buy a USB mouse.Read more ›

I used this motherboard for my new build and as usual, Asus is a top performer. I am not a gamer but still demand performance and this board is a great fit for me. I wanted the next generation in USB and SATA connections for the future so that was part of my decision.
So far, I have not had any dissapointments.

You can't go wrong with ASUS motherboards. They are the only ones that I ever buy. Never had an issue ever installing one and this is no different. I paired this motherboard with an iCore3 processor to create a media center PC and it works flawlessly.

A lot of internet and forum sources say that this MB is not overclockable; but I use this along with a core i7-2600K and I can overclock to 3.6ghz right now (Turbo Boost is still on), with the RAM at 1400mhz. This board is perfect for someone who doesn't want to overclock too much, like me. Plus, I like the fact that we can try out the internal graphics.

Whenever possible I like to give manufacturers a second or third chance to redeem themselves by attempting to use particular brands of products that didn't quite live up to expectations the first time around. ASUS is well on their 5th chance and continuing to provide sub-par motherboards at above average prices, based on a reputation that no longer applies today. This is my 5th ASUS motherboard in the past 4 years that didn't work as expected. Unlike its predecessors, I found a way to NOT return this one.

PROS: Small form factor with decent amount of ports, including PATA (the only selling point for me).

CONS: Managed to install windows without a dedicated video card but completely froze up the moment I tried to add a Radeon HD 6670. Even tried re-installing the OS with no luck. With that card in, you can't get to a UI to begin doing.. anything. Recover mode also locked up. Lucky for me, I had an old MSI NX8800GT on hand to replace it with. No issues there. So...for a "pro" version this board is a great disappointment. If I didn't have the MSI I would have returned it and bought just about any other brand out there: Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac, even Intel. The 6670 is nothing special and should have worked, just like it did when I tested it out on my other (Gigabyte) board.

If you can afford the time to hunt for a video card that works and you REALLY need the PATA like I did, then consider this board. Otherwise, you're better of looking elsewhere.

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the issue you had with the motherboard.

Have you tried loading the latest BIOS from our website (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8H67M_PRO/#download)? After plugging the Radeon HD 6670, if you are able to go to BIOS, try loading BIOS defaults--F5 key, save and exit. Can you tell me more about what happens when re-installing Windows? Does it hang during the installation process?

If you like to continue support, please contact me at cl-benson@asus.com reference #C1037-3890. Thank you.

Regards,
Benson

I can't really say anything negative about this board...and I have experience with five of them which I bought to build some work machines. I needed something micro-ATX without too many frills but with the right features. I considered dual on-board display ports, HD sound, USB 3.0 and Sata 3.0 to be important features. ASUS makes great motherboards and that's hard to deny, but they have a dizzying array of boards to choose from and it's not always clear what the differences really are between all the models. It took me quite some time to find this one version that had everything I wanted without all the stuff I didn't and still at a decent price. All five boards have worked flawlessly. ASUS's new mouse-based BIOS is a pleasure to use compared to the typical DOS prompt ones we had in the past. I updated all the BIOS versions to the latest before starting my build and that was super-easy too.
On these boards I installed i7 2600K chips with 2 sticks of 4GB RAM, a WD Black 500GB drive, DVD/CD combo and a SeaSonic 430W PSU. Granted, time will tell if these boards are reliable, but my first impression has been very positive.
