Does the job, but noisy - and BIG

Ordered this to make the connection between a JVC headunit and the Rockford Fosgate OEM system in a 2010 Nissan Frontier. As other reviewers have made, there are a few issues with this device, and I wish I was able to get the OEM-2 instead, since that has generally received great reviews. PAC cheapened this a bit, and it shows.. It does the job, but it will introduce a constant hiss through your speakers. I use it in the configuration of notching down the power of the high power output leads of the headunit to the RF amplifier in my truck.

Even with a truck, the unit takes up a LOT of space, although I was able to make it fit due to the amount of free space behind my dash.. Car users may have to locate it somewhere else. Like other reviewers, my unit will not stay snapped shut, and I have used tie wraps on both ends to keep it closed. Adjusting it is a finicky affair..

In the end, it does its job -- but it is made cheaply. Try and seek out an OEM-1 kit for your vehicle if you can. The SOEM-4 is NOT an upgrade of the OEM-2, which was a well-made unit. This unit is a piece of garbage.

I dunno. This was bigger that I thought it would be an I am sort of disenchanted with this whole project. I have never replaced a radio in a car that required anything other than hooking up the power, antenna and speakers so I was probably way in over my head taking on the project. I don't even remember what my problem was, but this item solved the problem. It was just bigger than I though it would be and hard to fit into the dash.

Good quality and clean signal. It gives you the option of wired or rca on either the input or output side. Four stars because I think it could be somewhat smaller. The bulky size of this pac makes it a little challenging to hide behind your head unit or dash. Other than its size I'm very happy with its performance and quality. My system sounds crystal clear with ZERO feedback, distortions or white noise. Im using it on my 2012 Wrangler with Alpine spr-17s and JL C5-650x pushing them with Alpine PDX F6.

The Pac SOEM-4 is an "ok" product..I was suprised at the cheap craftsmanship of this item. PAC is known for really good automotive accessories and adapters, ect. ect. but somehow this product missed the memo.. The complete item is made of cheap feeling plastic and the cover would not stay snapped into place. I ended up using electrical tape and zip-ties to keep the cover in place. The connections were pretty straight forward. Make sure you get your vehicle's factory wire-diagram before beginning install. Also, plan ahead of time on where you will mount this item. The product is very large and will not fit easily behind most headunits. I ended up taking the extra output plug, cutting the wires, using a solder kit and shinkwrap, extended the input wires so that I could mount the SOEM under the dash close to my steering column. This allows for easy access to RCA connections and easy access to the gain adjustments on the SOEM. TRUST ME, there is a lot of tuning that will take place after this installation. Between the OEM radio adjustments, PAC SOEM adjustments and your amplifer adjustments, it will take awhile to balance. The sound output is decent. The SOEM does include a slight "hiss" to the sound output but some major "micro" adjustments can help this somewhat..

Overall, this item does what it says....just on the cheap side. If there is no option of replacing your radio with an aftermarket system, and you need a basic "line-out converter", this will work. Remember, this item is cheaply made, handle with care......

First it does the job it was purchased to do. That said the build is not well finished. The cover does not stay on well and I had to use zip ties to keep it in place. Also the documentation is minimal. If you get a high pitched hum after installation check the switch position likely it moved and as a result of the poor build on the casing you did not notice the switch position change.

I bought this from Amazon, and just got done installing it in my Chrysler 300. It works like a champ, the remote turn on feature is my favorite part of the deal. The instructions do not describe how to do a factory head unit to aftermarket amp, but it works just fine for that. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Does not work if volt power output from radio

Careful, I bought it and the trigger for the amp does not work, after a week struggling and not being able to have the pac to off the amp, finaly called PAC the company itself and the conclusion was that my stock radio has voltage out the speaker wires to operate a funtion that many vehicles have these days, my truck 2006 Ford F250 radio has a feature that when i accelerate the volume raises, when i stop the volume automatically lowers, a radio like this has voltage on the speaker wires and the PAC wired exactly as instructions it turns the amp on as the ignition switch opens with the radio off, the PAC itself it's cool because you can select input or output wired or rca connections. Too bad didn't work in my system so i have to deal with my amp on all the time even with radio off, it stinks.

First problem was the snaps that are supposed to hold the case closed don't work. The thing keeps falling apart. Second, one of the adjustment nobs snapped off making it impossible to adjust that channel. Finally, I notice a fair amount of noise from this unit. Over-all I'd suggest staying far away from this unit. To be fair, I have other PAC products and have no problems with them, however, this one just seems to be a piece of junk.
