So, they work, but i suspect these baluns are causing some of the signal degradation. It may be something else, but i have not been able to diagnose anything other than these baluns.
The degradation is minor, and other than a few lines, it is not a big issue. I have 1000TVL cameras, so that compensates some.
what more could one want..
OH! they arrived well packed and on time..
using these in an outdoor area but well insulated from moisture the connection between the cat5 or cat 6 wire seems to become intermittent.. been arguing with these for months.. finally, april 24 2015 I get tires, went out to the pole, opened up the enclosure, used some big side cutters and clipped the plastic covering off.. revealing a tine PCB and coil.. I desoldered the screw terminals and soldered the cat 6 cable directly to the tiny PCB, which, so far, seems to have cured the flaky behavior..
SO, use only inside or bring a soldering iron with you when you install these..
This price can not be beat. Replaced some of my cameras around the house and went ahead replaced the Baluns as well.
Worked just as well as the existing Baluns which cost me $12 - $14 each for a security distributor. Make sure you have a good security bit screwdriver.
Use UTP Cat5 cable to run power and video from 2 different cameras back to your DVR. Sooooo much easier than using the crap cables that come with surveillance systems, or running coax and BNC connectors.
