Micro 4/3 is notorious for being dark, and this camera is no exception to that
The different modes assign different functions to the dials, and it's easy to forget which modes will let you adjust which things.
There are so many function buttons that it's easy to forget that there are two more on the front of the camera.
Haven't been able to get wifi or Bluetooth working yet.
No built in flash
The exact bundle I bought included no lenses, but did include the 2 pack of wasabi power batteries I was going to buy anyway, as well as a 64 gig Sony sdxc II SD card that I wanted as well, and the price difference was too negligible to ignore, being only 2 dollars extra. The hard case it came with didn't hurt, either. I bought this with the lumux g vario 12-35mm v2 lens, and have to say that it's a hard combo to beat with its dual i.s. and great image quality. Highly recommend this camera in the professional to prosumer segment of the market.
Others have talked about too many buttons--I like the buttons as. they make adjustments easeier and quicker. I also like that it's weather proof, though I've not used tin the rain, just on drippy hi humidity summer days of Chicago.
It is expensive, but if you can afford it it is a great camera. Also looks more like DSLR cameras, body is big; Having two slots for cards is nice. The battery is heavier and bigger than GX9/GX85. It also takes more pictures per charge. My test resulted in about 800 raw pictures on one charge, all placed on the super fast card that arrived with the camera.
The one thing I don't care for that others seem to like is the location of the on/off switch and the shutter button. I often accidentally hit the shutter button when I'm reviewing pictures. The shutter button is TOO convenient for me at least. That is minor however, as the button is very convenient. The other control location I don't care for is the picture review button. It is located on the left side of the camera instead of the right-hand side where the GX9/GX85 but is. I tried setting the button on the right side for review, but switched it to something else I needed more. The assigned review button apparently is not programmable.
I use the G9 with two professional lens 12-35 and 35-100. They are both weather sealed as well. That makes for a serious camera setup as the two lenses make up most of the ranges I use. Their apature is 2.8 and doesn't change as I zoom in so they work pretty well indoors too. (though not ;as goodas a prime lens)
Bottom line: I really like this camera for all kinds of reasons, more than I've mentioned here.
Because it had issues, my opinion on other items might not matter. The AF was unreliable, even with firmware 2.1. It felt good in the hands! Stabilization was great. Video recording features overhyped as only 10bit internally in one recording mode that I don’t use. Joystick in inconvenient place. Great customization and control.
After my refund, I bought a EM1 mk iii. Paid 60% more (on sale) to get significantly better AF, better stabilization, same great feel in my hands, better video bps on real world video settings, and a few more features.
Reliable AF drives better odds of successful pictures and videos, wether pro or amateur. Panasonic needs to step up their AF game because they are lagging behind every other manufacturer.
I’m glad I had a corrupted camera and was able to return. Buyers remorse!!!!
