"The journey back to myself."
Panic begins where Manic left off. Rook is still working for Spencer, but not as his canvas, she is working at the motorcycle shop as a receptionist. She has started school and her life is slowing down and finally falling into place.

In Panic we really see how much Rook has grown and matured from both Tragic and Manic. I'm not saying that she has overcome all of the tragedies she has suffered from her past, because she is still trying to overcome these in Panic. But she has finally accepted and embraced the second chance she has been given to live a normal happy life. Now, all the questions I had about Rook's life and why she was so broken from the beginning are revealed in Panic. By this I mean that we get to finally know what sort of life she lived with Jon back in Chicago. I have to say that I was not expecting this at all. This was a total jaw dropper for me. I even cried with and for Rook towards the end, because she has seriously come a long way. I loved the way J.A. Huss developed Rook's character throughout the series, which is why I freaking love Rook. Sure she was a tragic mess in Tragic, and an unreasonable girl in Manic, but in Tragic she has finally matured by accepting what happened to her and closing that chapter in her life.

I'm just observant, calculating, and I spent just as much time learning to turn off my emotions as I did turning them on.
Ronin is still the same old Ronin Flynn lol- charming, hot, sexy, thoughtful, protective, and total swoonage package. But I did have an OMG moment with another jaw dropper secret. In Manic we learn that Ronin Flynn shares a secret past that he doesn't want Rook to find out about. Sure I was surprised with that one in Manic, but in Panic we get the full story to his past!

Panic is an epic end to the Rook and Ronin trilogy. It is in this book that shit really hits the fan and the typical contemporary romance story really flips and turns into a dark romance with a lot of mystery and intrigue. Ronin, Ford, and Spencer really fall into their roles of con men and Rook grows into a brave strong woman.

When I first started this series I certainly didn't expect it to take the turns that it did and end up here. It was a wild ride, and I loved every unexpected twist and turn. It is super hard to talk about Panic without spoiling the previous two books, Tragic and Manic, but I will give it a try.

Rook ... poor sweet mistreated Rook. You finally find out what a horrible horrible life she had led before she ended up in Denver. My heart broke over and over for her the more I found out about what she had endured. And ... when apologies are made ... heartbreaking all over again. I am so happy she found Ronin, Spencer, and Ford. They are the best thing that could have ever happened to her.

And oh buddy, does this ending ever set up the spin-offs for Ford and Spencer! WHOA. That's really all I can say, but someone loses their head and totally makes some choices that take me by surprise!

Panic is a fantastic conclusion to a romance, and set's up future stories without leaving you feeling incomplete! I don't know how she did it, but Huss has a fan for life in me!

I didn't want this to end. There were highs and lows.. and I mean for the characters not the writing. JA Huss's writing sucked me in on day 1 and still hasn't let go.

There were interactions with characters that I didn't expect and there was a twist I certainly didn't see coming and that is part of what made this series so good to me. I didn't want it to end. Thankfully I still have Slack and Taut (and then Spencer's books) to go. I'm not ready to say goodbye to this group of characters.

Without question this book is hands down my favorite of the Rook & Ronin series!

Rook is chasing her dream—film school and a chance at a life beyond the one she ran from six months ago. But before she can become the girl she wants to be, she must deal with the girl she left behind.

Ronin is also chasing his dream—a family of his own and a life away from erotic modeling. And he too, has a past he’s trying to forget. A past that makes Rook question everything about their life together.

Lies, secrets, and shocking truths will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end?

As much as I've enjoyed the other books, this is easily my favorite because we learn soooo much more about all four of the main characters; Rook, Ronin, Ford, and Spencer. They all gain so much more depth and dimension, with so much of the things previously alluded to finally exposed to the light of day. But of the four Rook, Ronin, and Ford take center stage when it comes to depth of character development. But not to worry, Spencer will get his very own book, right after Ford's.

I especially enjoyed watching Rook finally really start down the path to growing up in a healthy sense, and to find emotional stability. She is faced with a choice that sets several things in motion, with possible outcomes ranging from death to grabbing life & love and riding that wave as far as it goes. I won't tell you what the catalyst is, or even which way her choice sends the dial spinning.
