The craftsmanship is quality, the pen has a really nice weight and feel to it, and the ink flows smoothly. The fine point has a bit more "scratch" to the flow than the medium point, but those of you that have experience with both know that this "scratch" is actually very common and has nothing to do with the quality of the pen itself.
The ink is a nice, dark black and doesn't look washed-out like some rollerball inks do. It also dries really quickly which helps eliminate smearing, although I don't know how well these would work for lefties. One thing I would change on these pens is when you have the cap placed on the non-writing end, it has a tendency to get a little TOO "stuck" and takes a bit of twisting to get it back off to recap it. This tends to lead to putting pressure on the clip, which isn't the strongest in the world - I've actually had to bend the clip back to its correct position simply as a result of removing the cap from the non-writing end.
The painted, lacquered finish seems to be holding up well, too. While I wouldn't put it in a pocket with a bunch of other items that could potentially scratch it, I expect it to hold up well being put into and removed from loops over and over again.
The OEM refills for these pens are a little on the pricey side, but that's the price you pay for quality. I have zero regrets getting these pens or their OEM refills, and if I ever have a need to replace one of the pens, I wouldn't hesitate to replace with the exact same thing.

Matte Blue Chrome Trim: Added this section after receiving my third Parker IM rollerball. I keep buying them in different finishes because they fit my hand well, and I like to rotate the different "nicer" pens that I take to business meetings to contrast with my co-workers' disposable plastic pens. I really like the matte finish of this pen, which does not show fingerprints. Still don't like Parker IM refills, which are much too bold for me. I'm currently using Uni-Ball Signo 207 0.5mm gel refills, modified as explained in the earlier part of this review.
Update: I saw my review and how I mentioned issues with the ink. It seems it may have been a defective ink cartridge. Once it ran out, I ordered a set of replacements, which were of a finer type as well, and they work just fine. So I'm moving it up one star as it was probably a fluke on the bad ink to start with. The rest of the review stands.

This is your genuine article, not some cheap far eastern clone. The packaging is impressive if you are giving this as a gift, but I'd have preferred a blister pack option to keep the waste down if I'm honest.
The pen itself is a delight to hold; perfectly balanced in the hand if you ask me. Although I am a professional writer (a veteran technology journalist and author with some 30 years in the business now) my work-a-day writing tool is, sadly, the keyboard. So it's really nice to have a 'proper pen' for when I'm jotting down notes, writing poetry for my partner or even making a shopping list.
There have been some complaints in the reviews that the rollerball ink flow is patchy, especially at the start of writing. However, I don't find this to be the case. The supplied Parker 'Quink' fine black refill behaves exactly as I would expect it to and, again, is a delight to use.
To start positively, this is still an acceptable pen and writes smoothly, and the added shaping on the pen lid, and detail on the chrome trim can be regarded as good progress. However, perhaps the worst change on this pen was changing the brushed metal 'handle' with cheap plastic. From the pictures I had presumed that this was black lacquered brass (much like the pen body of other pens in the series. This is not the case. A poor feeling (and in person looking) plastic is used instead - to the detriment of the pen. To the fingers it is just tactilely disappointing, however, the weight loss in changing to plastic has resulted in higher centre of gravity on the pen and makes it less pleasant to use. Don't get me wrong, I like heavy pens - it is the weight distribution that here has been sacrificed for cost.
Further changes made for cost efficiency that ruin the pen are on the lid. There is a large hole gouged into the metal underneath the wide part of the clip, and a hole underneath the part where the clip connects to the lid body. The clip itself is far weaker and very manoeuvrable. Perhaps the holes would be acceptable, but when the clip is able to move 0.6mm horizontally from it's equilibrium position, with no bending or effort, then it is poor design. It also means that just from being in your pocket, the finish on the lid is marked from the movement of the clip.
To the reader of this review, I would personally suggest spending a little bit more and see either if you can get the older model, or find a different pen.
To Parker: I absolutely loved the previous model, and would much rather you had increased the cost rather than ruin the legacy on probably the best pen for a budget. This may be a newer model, however, in most important attributes it is undeniably worse.
I bought this, my 5th I believe, as a replacement for the last which, as is usually the case, eventually started to split where the nib end screws into the barrel - hardly surprising with how far I drive each one that I have owned!
Reliable, lovely flowing script with the rollerball refills - personally I much prefer fine point over medium.
I have no doubt I’ll buy another in a few years’ time.
