Broken Leaf Blower
on June 10, 2014
Don't buy this product if you are expecting many years of good use. I bought one from Home Depot on 10/8/2013 for $316.94 including tax, and used it approximately 12 times last fall for leaves for an hour or so per use. Then I pulled it out for spring clean-up a few weeks ago and used it twice - the second time being approximately 15 minutes, at which time it seized up.
I took it into Home Depot for service, and this morning their central service center called me to tell me it needs a new cylinder to the tune of more than $200, and it's not covered under the warranty. Their reason? Stale gas. There is no way it's stale gas, because I use the same mixed gas for my snow blower, hand-held leaf blower, weed wacker, and this blower. 3 of the 4 still operate just fine, with the weed wacker & hand-held blower running off the same can of mixed gas. When was the gas purchased? No earlier than March because with this year's Michigan winter, I used multiple cans of gas with the latest gas purchase being sometime in March or April. I'm calling foul, and am saying that it's just a way to get out of servicing the product under warranty because they say it's not a "manufacturer's defect." If you only get 20 or so service hours out of a blower before it breaks, it a manufacturer's defect.
I am highly disappointed with this purchase. It worked great, but now it's just a pile of orange and black garbage.
