My kindergartener has been playing this non stop for two days! It's pretty adorable. You have to get the blobs to the machine thing that collects them. There's levels (like Angry Birds or Where's my Water). Logical thinking and simple counting and math are needed to add or subtract the appropriate number of blocks to lead the blobs to the machiene that collects them. If there's a gap two blocks wide, you have to select the right number of blocks to fill the hole to close the gap. The levels get a little more difficult; the exact number of blocks won't always be available and I had to help him understand simple math (2 blocks plus 1 = 3; 5 - 4 = 1). There are also some video shorts from the tv series. Cute! Way to go, PBS! - *Kindle Fire 7*
The Odd Squad is an excellently written show and entertaining for all ages. My 11-year old is entertained with this game (but it's not addictive for her. She picks it up and puts it down silly-nilly). My 5 year old likes it but the upper levels require some finger agility and quickness she doesn't get have. I thing 6-7 years old will be the time when she really enjoys it and can do it on her own.
My kids have never heard of or seen Odd Squad and they love this game. There is multiple math equations in each level that sometimes require the player to do the math quickly. It's a fun and educational game.
I ordered this game, and my son was super excited to try it out. However, it has been "preparing to download" for almost a week now. Other apps were purchased and downloaded successfully so it's not the device. My son, is very sad and doesn't understand why he can't play his game. I emailed the developer 6 days ago and never got a response. The app will not let me delete it to attempt to re-order so I'm stuck. I'm very disappointed and so is my son. I'm giving this one star because of this, if somebody contacts me and we can resolve this then I will come back and change my rating once we can actually try the game.
This game is PBS best one yet ! Odd Squad is a favorite at our house. Its all about math and making math a part of everyday life. My kids play this independently. Even my 4 year old can play. The kids chase the"Blobs" and try to trap them. All moves involve using addition & subtraction. Its fun!
She loves the show, so I knew she would love this game. The levels get a little harder so I help when needed but for the most part she plays the game on her own while learning math and has fun playing. This is a great app one of her favorites!!!!
