I use it only for the registry scan and nothing else.
It isn't aggressive, finds registry debris, and has not resulted in use of a registry backup.
Installed and ran this version on two PC's, one with XP and other W7.
Registry scan removed nearly 1000 fragments each computer.
Updated my version to the version here yesterday.
Registry scan removed 2500 fragments W7.
Registry cleaning isn't a magic solution to computer performance but does help
especially for cleaning up fragments after a computer has been compromised by
Do use C: rt click for Properties/Tools/Error Checking/Auto Fix File System Errors/Schedule for next restart.
I run this periodically and it is a must run after problems with virus etc.
Obviously, I highly do not recommend.
I am returning mine. I received the box sealed with a disk to load, and a Product Key to enter to activate it. I attempted to Install the software, and it aborted with a simple Error Dialog Box, and a button to send me to the PCTools Homepage. No special location to address my problem, just the generic Homepage. There it explained in detail how to load a disk into my computer.
I found a page further on to register a generic complaint, which I did, describing my problem in painstaking detail. The effort took me 10 minutes. I immediately got an automated email from a mail robot with a downloaded Install program. I then tried to run THIS.
This aborted even worse than the other, again with an error message, and a link to their Homepage. I sent in a complaint again, this time with a screen capture of the error message, which says simply "Install Aborted - Contact PCTools".
This time I got a form letter that at least looked like it was sent by a human being. But AGAIN, they simply gave me an install file, told me to use it, then use my Activation Key afterwards. WHAT AFTERWARDS? Like it had done TWO TIMES BEFORE, it aborted before installing, with no explanation except to tell me to contact PCTools.
That's it. This software SUCKS, they provide no competent way to explain the problem, they don't READ your complaints, and they don't seriously attempt to solve the problems.
If these kind of people are supposed to watchdog the subtle problems of your Computer Registry, give them a WIDE BERTH. Meanwhile, I will be returning this turkey for a full refund, and get a program that actually works, and from someone who cares.
