Hardware Installation = Easy, but if you can't install a wireless card of any variety, you shouldn't be buying this anyway.

Software Installation = Easy, but the included Asus management software is awful, and cuts the bandwidth in half. Just use windows management.

My ipad, iphone, and win7 laptop next to this computer with this card all get 28mb download / 5 mb upload internet speed on speedtest.net. On the same access point, in the same location, this card was struggling to average 2.3mb down and 4mb up.

Used tcpoptimizer on the card to see if that helped, minimal improvement.

Adjusted settings to not use power management and always use 100% power from the device manager in Windows 7. No improvement.

There are better cards out there apparently; the speed on this one won't be sufficient for any kind of power user.

**Updated

I pointed the antenna straight out instead of upright and speed improved to 21.6mb download and 4.6mb upload. I have this in a slim desktop case. Not really practical to have it pointed like this, but it did help immensely with signal.

Works very well with Linux. However, be aware that this device is 2.4Ghz only - no 5ghz capability. So just be aware of that. I assumed that since it was an “N” adapter, that would be the case but it’s not the “dual band” type, so you’re stuck on the old 2.4 network

I wanted to place it on Asus x99-M WS mobo. The mobo has intrinsic wifi module but Ubuntu was having trouble identifying and installing driver.

Purchased and returned on day one. The card arrived seems brand new and undamaged. I installed it then I can't boot into Ubuntu, can't reinstall Ubuntu, and can't even boot into Windows. Isn't it an irony that Asus made stuff incompatible with each other?

Besides, the pcie plugs are super hard to push into mobo slots. I replaced it with TPlink N300 of the same price. Everything runs smoothly since then.

Hello everyone, this is a nice price and reliable Wireless adapter for your pc, this is a tiny piece of hardware that lets you to connect from far of home, even though, it has a little antenna, it will get WIFI signals from your block or neighborhood. Installing is really easy and takes like 10 minutes as much and doesn't takes much electricity. It has a software that lets you to connect to WIFI networks and edit certain kind of things of you wireless network. I recommend it, have a nice day.

Works Great on OpenSUSE 12.2 with slight preparation

This card was up and running on my OpenSuse 12.2 box in minutes. If however, you are new to Linux or networking in general there is a known wifi issue with 3 workarounds.

The problem is that KDE desktop and the Linux core won't simply install a wifi wireless adapter (for all wifi cards, not just this one). This issue has nothing to do with drivers although in many cases that's a reasonable assumption. If you are running Gnome, you are unlikely to have any problem setting up wifi.

If you are running KDE, you have 2 choices. Linux distros with KDE default to Network Manager as the configuration tool and this is probably the best choice for all other configuration tasks except setting up wifi . For setting up wifi, you need to open YAST2->Network Devices->Network Settings and ignore the dialog which informs you that Network Manager is handing configuration and use the radio buttons on Global Options tab and choose Traditional Method using "ifup". After short wait you will have downloaded smpppd daemon used by ifup and this wireless adapter will be recognized. You can then change back to Network Manager after the card is installed. A second method is documented on OpenSuse dot org which uses a Linux core utility to scan for all wifi's with a decent signal and caches the results in a place that makes them available to the Network Manager. Personally, I prefer changing to ifup temporarily to work around this problem since this is quick and easy to accomplish. Once the device is initially configured it will remain in the list of interfaces.

The 3rd workaround is to install the gnome desktop apps to configure wifi and you can find this procedure easily with Google.

KDE is still my favorite desktop, but I gotta say this wifi issue has been around way too long even if it is easy to work around.

I am becoming quite an ASUS fan (Motherboards, monitors and network adapters) mainly because they make my life easier. This ASUS PCE-N10 Wireless adapter is a good buy. Recommended.

BUYER BEWARE! This is not the Asus Pce-N10!

After receiving the bulk packaged PCI card (which should not have been bulk packaged as I ordered and paid for a new one), I was immediately suspicious of the card. The card did not have the shortened bracket as the seller advertises. The item also arrived with no disc for drivers, nor instructions. The item was basically just the PCI card (with full bracket) and antennae packaged in bubble wrap.

I decided not to go through the trouble of returning it based on my laziness to go online and get drivers, but I should have sent it back immediately. After installing the card in my PC I was wondering why I couldn't see my N network, but I could see my G network of my dual band router. The item shipped to me was the G PCI card! Completely fraudulent and unacceptable! I am contacting Amazon immediately for a refund.

Update: Amazon refunded my money for this. I recommend buying the Asus PCE-N15 over this card. The N15 performs dual band and arrived with all written materials as well as the install disc. No problems with that one. Very simple to install and works great!
