GPU worked fine up until this riser came into my home. I have multiple systems which the card was used in. It was a great 5970.
I plugged this into a PCI-E x16 slot and attached the GPU. It was an open case so I could see the internals of the system. Upon pressing the power button to turn on the machine, a flame shot out of the riser where the GPU connects to it followed by that terrifying odor of melting copper and shorting electronics.
Instantly I reached to cut the power, but it was too late, the damage had already been done.
The card now has a large open copper spot where the circuit etching used to be and still reeks of that haunting electrical fire smell. I am horrified.
Please for the sake of your components, do not buy this riser. Pay a little extra and get something worth quality.... or at least test it out with a lower quality GPU to see if it lights on fire or not.
Its possible that 5970, which is 2 gpus in one card, could have been too large a load for such a cheap piece of junk. Maybe a smaller card with less load would not start on fire. Still.....

Extremely shoddy product

Upon reading reviews, i opted to check the pins before plugging this into my motherboard. One pin was lifted, not even making contact with the card. Another pin was touching two contacts thus shorting it out. I would have hated to see what would have happened if I plugged in my $600 R9 290x into my $200 motherboard with this cheap riser.I'd avoid at all costs.

This cable is rather stiff and it prevents bending in tight areas. If you want to use the PCIe lane anywhere closer than the full length of the cable you will run into problems trying to fold the cable and make it stay where you need it.

This little doodad is a handly solution for raising those video cards that often cover the PCI-E x1 slot. One of the most notable features of this particular cable that separate it from the rest, is that it includes a handy latch to secure the card to the cable. To top it off, the build quality is excellent and almost a steal at $10. My main reason for purcahsing this particular cable was so I could raise the video card so I could add a USB 3.0 controller card to my rig. Installation was painless and it hasn't given me any problems so far. As of this writing I see it is no longer available, but I hope they restock it as this is probably the best and most affordable solution out there.

Ordered about 10 of these for two of my mining rigs. SOME of them worked for about 2 days before they stopped working. then more and more stopped working. My motherboard would read error "94". After looking it up, i discovered it is pci bus initialization error. Lo and behold i took out all of my risers and so much fuss and plugged my GPU directly into my motherboard, Everything worked fine.
Took out the cables and looked up close at them, they are made awfully, with many of the pins showing clear cosmetic damage.
Nearly all of my cables arrived or became defective quickly.

Needed a riser for my video card in my htpc. Make sure to look up the soldering you need to do to ground it properly.

I have a gene-z motherboard with literally no space for sli. I also have two 580 lightning xtreme with huge fans. before I purchased this product, my gpu temps in sli were 72 degrees for first gpu, around 55 for second. I decided to purchase this product to relocate second gpu in hopes to drop temps which was extremely effective. now my first gpu hovers around 60 degrees while gpu 2 stays at 55 as well. no drop in speed either which was awesome considering this was a cable. I highly recommend this product to anyone dealing with similar issues. product was very durable as well.

This bad boy looked great until I peeled back the tape revealing literally the worst soldering of all time.
After hours testing it out and cutting between crosssoldering I resolved the shorts.
Don't buy unless you can resolder it.

Not the best extension cable. Badly constructed, poor soldering on all connections. It shorted out when tried with my graphics card.
I should have gotten one that was made on a PCB, so grounding all around it would keep EMI/RFI interference low.
Micro SATA Cables is a very nice company to purchase from.
They refunded the purchase price and sent a better one to me...free of any additional charges.
