Longtime subscriber of PC World. Followed their instructions to download and install on my Kindle Fire. The app just does not work. I downloaded it thru the Amazon webpage on my computer. Then had trouble finding it on the Kindle. Once I launched it, all I got was the navigation page. (Hint) You have to tap the Kindle menu page at the bottom of the screen, to bring up the login page. Next you can try to log in. I used my email (the same one they have no problem sending ads to) and my account #; it couldn't find me (even tho I had just logged in on the PC World website half an hour before). Then it gave me a choice to use my email and/or my zip code and/or my account # to log in. Did all three, none of which worked. PCWorld needs to get their act together on this app; maybe I'm reading the wrong mag (anyone know if PC Magazine is still around?).

YES all screwed up again!! I have been a subscriber to this magazine for many many years, but since it went digital only it almost unusable. Someone there needs to get on the ball. The app was improving some but as of the January issue I get the "MIB version error" and cannot get it to work on my kindle fire HD. I feel like they owe me and addition years worth of subscription for all the hassle their poor prep and execution when going all digital. I would love to have the real magazine back.

Update, I finally got it working.
1. Hold down on the PCWorld icon on the Carousel, a menu will pop up, select "remove from Carousel".
2. Next touch at the top of your Kindle screen to activate the task bar and select "more".
3. Now choose "Applications">> "Installed Applications">>scroll down to "PCWorld" and select it.
now press the "clear cache" button, now press the "clear data" button.
4.At the bottom of the screen touch the house to go back to the home screen.
5. Shut your Kindle off by holding down on the power button and selecting the "shutdodwn button".
6. Once shut completely off, restart your kindle. Choose "Apps > Store" at top off the screen enter PCWorld into the search field, and choose the magazine app, on next screen touch on the "free download" button and wait for the app to install. Once complete again shut down the kindle and restart.
All should now work, but all your past magazines and even your account number are gone. The new app looks different, to access your account information in the upper right corner there is a small red square icon that says PCWorld in it. Touch this to get to the account menu where you will need to input your account number and email address. This will then let you log on to PCWorld and down load the digital magazine. Good Luck

I was going crazy since late December 2014 in that I could not read the January 2015 issue. I too kept getting the MIB v4.4 error with no information at all about needing to upgrade the app. Damn, at least Apple shows you which apps need to be upgraded and automates it. Anyway, I did as a poster on this forum said, and I can now read the January 2015 issue, but it wants to charge me for all back issues (which I've already paid for), and for the February 2015 issue, which I have paid for as well, since my subscription is paid up (on their auto pay) until March 2016. I have sent their customer service a message asking that all this mess be fixed. I hope they will. Seems pretty dumb that a PC magazine that purports to be experts can't write a decent app. If this isn't resolved soon, I'll cancel my subscription. Hell, I'd pay an extra $5/year for a PRINTED and MAILED version. Digital is crap compared to a real magazine or book that you can flip through in seconds instead of getting in navigation hell.

Perhaps PC World has transitioned to a "web only" info site, and makes most of their money from selling ad space on that site, and now they don't really give a crap about actual subscribers. I've been a loyal subscriber since the days of Windows 95, but if this is the best they can do here in 2015, then I'm out.

UPDATE on 17 February 2015: It seems that the issues I had have been fixed (mostly). Still, I would be wary if you have not yet bought this magazine. Indeed, the reality is that you can find for FREE on their web site, nearly all the articles in their monthly issues, perhaps delayed a month or so, so why bother paying? I still am not sold on digital versions of magazines. A paper magazine can be searched and used for reference far easier than a digital version, and no I'm not anti-ebook, as I read many books on my two Kindles. It is just that a technical reference magazine does not lend itself to linear reading as a book does.

The problem for me is that recent issues I subscribed to could not be downloaded and read. There was an error message saying that the app needed to be updated but no updates were available for the Fire. The app works well on real Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab series. This is another example of problems with the Kindle version of Android.

It took a LOT of messing around to get the "Library" to actually show something was available to read. I've got to believe that the people who wrote this app didn't do a lot of focus group testing. When I finally got it to work, I found something with more pizazz than the paper publication - I know it's tempting because it's possible to do stuff like this - but the pizazz interferes with the readability and clarity of the articles. You find the slightest miscue resulting in weird popups or sending you off to some other part of the magazine. C'mon guys - just cool it a bit.

After using this app for a while, things seem to have settled down a bit. Occasionally you get unexpected results, but overall this app works fairly well if you don't have your paper copy of the magazine. My "Library" actually gives me a choice of two different months of the magazine. I still prefer the printed (paper) edition.
