This is a nice clock. Aside from the initial alarm problem I was pleasantly surprised at how adorable this clock was. The outside finish looks some sort of copper alloy. It doesn't attract finger oils or prints. The clock face has phosphorescence (glow-in-the-dark) for night readability as well as a white LED for illumination. The external build quality is fantastic. The twin bell alarm is moderately loud. Ticking is inaudible unless you put your ear against it.
Unfortunately, the alarm stopped working after a week. You would hear some sort of switch actuation, but no motor winding away to move the hammer. I tested this multiple times. The clock hands were unaffected. At the time, I didn't have a mini-screwdriver set to examine the internals so I gave a one-star review. A customer service representative, Candy, contacted me the day after offering a replacement free of charge. The replacement clock arrived a few days later. 5 stars alone for the customer service.
When I did get a chance to open it up, all I found out of place were two wires that were crimped together, what I assume, during assembly. Whether this caused a short I don't know. I feel bad for having two clocks now and will ship it back to the manufacturer out of pocket if asked.
*** OLD REVIEW ***
Alarm stopped working after a week. Alarm will be switched to "on", but the clock hand passes by silently without ringing.
Will be returning it and searching for another alarm clock.
Edit: Service rep Candy sent an email almost immediately offering to replace the faulty clock. That's 5 star customer service. Thanks Candy! Will update ratings again after I receive the replacement clock.
Edit.2: Received the replacement alarm clock, and it seems to be working fine now! Hopefully that last one was a lemon. I didn't have a set of mini philips to check the internals. Thanks again Candy for the amazing customer service.
One of the reasons I chose this clock, as opposed to the larger version, is that the whole face of the clock is supposed to be luminescent. Something that is a bit odd is that the luminescence only encompasses about a quarter of the clock face. You can very clearly see the 12-4, but it's a bit darker for the rest of the clock face. I really wish the paint was distributed evenly across the clock. You do still have the light button to rely on, but I really wanted the whole face to glow. I would take a picture, but it doesn't photograph well. The room has to be pitch black for the face to glow.
Either way, I'm pleased with the purchase. I might look for another clock with a face that glows more evenly, but this is a cute little
