This is my second purchase of a Sennheiser gaming headset (the other headset I owned for 4 years, and upgraded to the PC 360).
This headset was designed for some serious gaming for gamers who want it all. There's some terrific features I like about this headset...
Positives (4 stars):
A. Snug fit: no worry of them sliding off (like lighter headsets can).
B. Open air design cans: can have all the joy of listening to the game and not waking the neighbors for 3AM matches, and still be able to hear any bumps in the night!
C. Amble ventilation due to open air design: even in the heat of summer (or more likely, a very hot AMD video card), this headset remains cool.
D. Soft ear cups: It's foam but feels like velvet.
E. Ear cups are huge: will enclose even the largest ears, especially those with full lobed ears.
F. Auto turn off mic if raised to 90 degrees: It's easy to remember when you muted the mic as the boom will be up -- a confirmation lock click notifies you the mic is now off.
G. Beefy cord: Same diameter as the Logitech mouse cord, and the plastic has a spongy feel (anti-kinking).
H. Amble cord length: enough for you to get up to grab a book off the shelf without needing to take them off.
I. Volume control ease: control the volume on the right bottom can -- no more fumbling with an inline volume control and clips.
Negatives (Minus star):
A. Weight: this headset is very heavy and gravity will ensure it'll push downward.
B. Headband: Due to that weight and gravity the headband cushioning is rather light. Also due to the snugger fit than most headsets it may give some gamers headaches (it's very snug fit for those with hat sizes larger than size 7).
C. Ear cup foam collects everything (open foam is great for cooling, but every dust speck and piece of lint will collect on it).
For audiophiles (and pro gamers) it's a must to get your own preamp to truly enjoy this headset. It operates fine right out of the box, but for those who will spend over $200 for a headset, a $90 preamp to get full enjoyment isn't an issue (and pro gamers it's something you'll need for situational awareness, anyway). Audiophiles will have their favorite brands, but pro gamers get the Astro, as it's designed specifically for MLG/ladders.
Audio wise this headset is much better than some audiophile grade headphones. It doesn't, like a proper headphone should, drown you in bass (which is a sign also of someone losing high frequency awareness, tone deafness). It's neutral -- not tinny or deep -- so you can adjust it to your preferences with equalization. Because this headset is a grade for a preamp, it also is best paired with an audio card that can appreciate the higher and lower frequencies this headset can distinguish.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this headset minus the headband comfort issue. Sound quality is top notch; the mic is clear and doesn't pic up background ambient noise; the cans fit excellently; and the cord doesn't kink and can take abrasions. This is another headset I'm sure will last another 4+ years -- beefy and built to last. Well worth every penny.
Update 08/27/2012: I've been using the PC360s for over a year now. I've decided to change my rating from a 4 to a 5. In my original review, I didn't fully understand the open ear design and assumed all headphones provided some noise isolation. The best thing about these headphones is that they are very comfortable and sound great. I have worn the PC360s for 8 hours straight without ear or head discomfort. The open ear design keeps your ears from becoming too sweaty from prolonged use. I highly recommend the PC360s.

The only issue I've had is with the in-line volume control found on the right ear piece which when adjusted tends to crackle and I've noticed has gradualy gotten worse as the left/right volume now becomes unbalanced and I need to fiddle to get it right. Since it comes with two year warranty it should be enough time for any prospective owner to gauge any issues about reliability and take appropriate action. I sent both Sennheiser and Amazon a message regarding this and whilst Amazon replied within 2 hours with a resolution it's been four days and I haven't heard anything back from Sennheiser. Shame on you Sennheiser UK, well done Amazon once again for your brilliant customer service.
Overall I am delighted with the product itself and of course Amazon. One last note, whilst the sound is excellent for gaming don't expect hifi quality sound for music, for that you need proper headphones from the Sennheiser 595 and up.
Edit: since receiving my replacement headset I've noticed there's been a few changes. The volume control on the ear piece now has a Sennheiser logo on it and there are no issues when changing volume. Also, the sound has definately improved, there is more bass and sound remarkably 'hifi'. So overall it seems this new revised version has certainly been tweeked to get better sound and reliability. So impressed I am with them that I shall change my rating from 4 to 5 stars as they really are on top of their game.
The mic works well, it gets muted when the mic's 'boom arm' is lifted up, and activates when the mic is lowered, whilst giving a nice little click to let you know when the mic has been muted/unmuted. The earcups are large and rimmed with a nice velvet-like padding. The headband also has some velvet padding, and can be adjusted to fit very big heads. I have the headbands set on the 8th 'notch' on the left and right earcups and it fits very nicely - there are up to 18 notches on both sides. The build seems really sturdy so far, i've dropped the PC360's several times and trodden over the wire with both my chair AND the desk - i've also accidently pulled on the wire (stepped on the wire then stood up xD), yet the headset still performs without flaws. The wire is easily long enough (over 2m it looks like). The earcups use an open-ear design, they DO let sound in and out, though i've not found this to be a problem. The headset in reallly comfortable, I've can wear it for hours and not be affected by it, they're pretty light too. Volume control is also very convenient with the headset, there's a volume dial on the right earcup which can adjust the vol from 100% down to around 25% - which i've found to be super helpful. The PC360s do everything I wanted them to do. The only negative I can think of is that the wire could have been shorter, but I don't mind it at all. The PC360 is a great headset.
I planned on getting a soundcard with a dedicated amp along with the PC360, but ended up getting the PC360 alone. They're plugged into my onboard lineout (P5QL Pro mobo), and they get driven nicely. The PC360's aren't hard to drive, I can plug them into my PSP and still get a very decent volume with good quality sound. I'll be getting a soundcard soon (most likely the Xonar Essence STX) and i'll update this review once i've tested out the PC360's with the better audio source.
Raising the boom to mute and having the volume control on the ear cup is key to its long term success. Every headset i have had fail has failed on inline volume control . If you make a headset with that then you are doing it wrong ( i am looking at you creative).
Its just a shame they are hard to get hold of now, the 2 replacement models are ether low quality or overpriced. This was just right .
In conclusion, bad design! - Do not recommend
