  • The Birds Eye Chili Pepper is very hot measuring 50,000-100,000 SHUs which is almost as hot as a Habanero Pepper. They get their name because of their shape and because they are widely spread by birds (although I cant imagine how a bird could eat these hot peppers!). These peppers are used as a spice to give dishes a fiery zing or to flavor vinegar. The leaves of the plant can also be eaten as a vegetable. It is a very ornamental pepper, and its juice can be made into a homemade insect repellent when it is mixed with water.

Seeds that I received we not accurate. I tried and tried to get these to grow and finally after limited success, the peppers are not Birds Eye Chili. Based on what they look like, I'd say they are banana peppers.

They're pepper seeds, just as described. They didn't come with instructions, but if you've grown peppers before, they're all kind of the same to grow. They've sprouted and are just waiting for good weather to go outside.

I tried planting these from seeds I grew last year, but I didn't get many to germinate, and following that the plants did not thrive in Michigan conditions. I'll caveat that I'm not an experienced gardener, and I may have had the wrong soil conditions or treatment of these peppers. Basil from seed, or tomatos were all far, far more successful than these peppers unfortunately.

Got my seeds in July 2012 after quick shipping. Can't give an exact figure for germination success, but I remember it being decent. Plants grew quickly and produced spicy, great tasting peppers.

Bought them, started them, and now I have plants. Probably had about 50% germination rate, which is decent. Thank you.

The seeds germinated great however I believe I was sent Jalapeno seeds. The pepper is much larger than the birds eye and it hangs completely down. Could the seller have possibly sent the wrong seeds?

I bought three packages of different seeds from this seller and I have been disappointed with all three. These particular had just a few sprouts germinate.. maybe 5 out of the whole package.
