Power fail alarm continuously monitors 120V AC power outlets and if there is an interruption, the LED flashes and a 102dB beeping alarm sounds to let you know. The alarm can be silenced by pushing the green button. A selectable "snooze alarm" feature will cause the alarm to come back every 30 minutes until power is restored. Will alarm for 72 hours straight with the supplied Lithium battery. The only power failure device with plug detection; if your plug becomes unplugged from the power fail alarm itself, this is detected electrically and the alarm sounds. Simple installation, just pop in the (included) long-life lithium battery. After that you are protected for the next 10 years. Very loud beeping audio buzzer - 103dB at 2 ft will never be missed even in noisy factories. Extremely low power consumption allows the lithium battery to last up to 10 years. After that time, if battery power is low due to excessive alarming time, a low-battery warning alarm sounds for many weeks. Selectable modes so it can detect millisecond blips, (useful for computer equipment) or only report power outages longer than 10 seconds. Convenient passthrough receptacle. Includes a secure screw-mounting tab for critical process monitoring equipment, freezers, heaters, pumps, fans and more.

Ok, so you found the plug, now you say “dang, that’s crazy expensive...!”, and you’re right. Take a chance and you buy one because you’re tired of losing all your frozen food in the garage freezer cause the lightning storm last week knocked out your freezer and you did t know it until it smelled like roadkill in your garage. Package comes, you plug it in, and forget about it. Then one rainy afternoon, you hear a strange alarm sounding thing from your living room and say, “what the heck is that?!”...as you approach the garage, it’s gets louder and LOUDER...then all at once it hits you...”Holy smokes! It actually works, my freezer alarm is going off!”...this happens at least 4 times before the writing of this story and you then come to realize...yea, that dang plug alarm was really expensive but man, it’s already saved my freezer over 5 times! More than paying for the cost of replacing all the frozen goodies. The moral of the story is this thing is costly, but, after it saves all of your food time and time over, you’ll see your investment was made wisely. Buy it if you can relate to my story above!

The manufacturer, Gizmo, is a model for providing customer service. This PFA was needed to alert us to power going off to oxygen concentrator, especially at night when sleeping. Life and death issue. Set-up was simple: call Lisa at number provided on literature. Inserting 9V battery was no brainer. I did need a louder alarm than 102 decibels because of the arrangement of our home, location of bedroom, doors closed, and 83-years of age. I spoke with Engineer Peter. He instructed to return unit, and for $20 he would change to alarm of 108 decibels. This was done, installed with higher decibel alarm, unit works perfectly. If anyone has questions, call Lisa or Peter. They provide prompt assistance.

Purchased this item for a stand up freezer in my garage due to an issue with the GFI outlet the freezer is plugged into randomly tripping and shut the freezer off (not due to power outage or weather related). & I have lost all or most of the items stored inside one too many times, and needed an alarm that would let me know when the outlet was tripped to prevent food from spoiling. So far I am very pleased with this item it has already alerted me to the outlet tripping and freezer shutting off and I was able to hear the audible alarm going off inside the garage while letting the dogs out to the back yard & was able to reset the outlet before any of the items inside had a chance to dethaw.

After a lot of research, I found, as other reviews say, that this is the best. Yes, it costs more, but, even the battery for the plenty loud alarm will last about 10 years! ......And, for me at least, a freezer full of food that unknowingly went bad because of power outage is a lot more expensive.
You easily remove 4 small screws to insert the enclosed 9 volt battery. You can see inside “the box” how tidy and well engineered it is.
Because of something of my own doing, I called the manufacturer and they were extremely helpful!
BEST PURCHASE I’VE MADE IN A LONG TIME.

The set-up of the PFA can be confusing as the directions are not entirely clear.

We live adjacent to conservancy, open space land in a fire-prone area. In the event of fire, especially overnight when sleeping, the power can be compromised by fire, utility companies, and/or public safety officials. The PFA, once properly set up, can be a lifesaver. If your use of the device is merely for alarm purposes (and you do not intend to plug anything into the 3-prong plug receptacle mounted on the exterior of the PFA) -- when you plug the device into a wall box, the PFA will flash red and the alarm will sound. After checking the battery, wall receptacle, and so forth -- the alarm continues to sound after several minutes, there is a simple fix not well explained in the directions that come with the unit. The simple fix is to remove the tiny red clip on the circuit board (inside the device and opposite the battery holder) which will bypass (and disable) the 3-prong plug receptacle mounted on the exterior of the PFA. You're then good to go. If questions, call Lisa at Gizmo and she will pleasantly walk you through the set-up of the PFA in less than 3 minutes: +1 (315) 225-5096

If someone is dependent on the operation of a piece of health equipment that requires 110v ac power such as breathing assistance at night, then plug that piece of medical equipment into this device and plug this device into the wall outlet. What better assurance can you have than the silence that indicates that all is well. If the power fails or if the medical equipment is disconnected, the alarm will sound which will wake you or someone nearby to come to your aid. It's a good and well-engineered product. And the internal jumpers give you some flexibility.

This is my venision-preservation alarm. Cannot have the freezer sitting there with a tripped GFI and me not knowing it. Purchased a smaller and cheaper alarm and it wasn't loud enough and didn't last long enough. What if I'm away for most of the day when this happens? The prior alarm would be out of battery power by the time I got home. Not this one. Would definitely buy again.
