I don't know what it was exactly about this book, but I REALLY liked it as a kid and now I want to be able to share it with my twin boys (age 4). Wish I knew what happened to my copy! Definitely worth sharing with a whole new generation. LIVE ON PICKLE PICKLE PICKLE JUICE!! (ha ha)

My son loved this book (age 5). The pictures are engaging and the repetition of "pickle juice" made him laugh. He demanded that I read it too him over and over again, and soon knew the words. It gave him confidence to try other 10 word reading books.

This was my favorite book when I was little, and as other reviews have mentioned, there is alot of repetition in it. Easy for a child to memorize and I loved "reading" it to my parents. I had done a search on Amazon.com for this books many many months ago and it was no where to be found. I knew it couldn't be true, but it felt like perhaps I was the only one who had ever read this book, lol. I have no idea what happened to my copy, although I do remember the front cover falling off, I had read it so many times. Sure wish I still had it to share with my children now...

This is one of those books that just imprints itself in your mind. There is so much to look at in each picture. The words are very simple but my son who loves long books loves this just as much. I still have my childhood copy but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has such strong memories from it. My husband doesn't 'get' it but my son sure does!

This is a very fun book, though most of the story is via illustrations due to the limitation of only using a ten word vocabulary.

I read this to my daughter once. Then I made ten flash cards and we practiced with them until she knew them backwards, forwards and upside down. Once she learned them, she was "allowed" to read the book all by herself and thus began the "backwards" tradition of her reading to me instead of me reading to her.

She is 25 today and a voracious reader, so this book worked! And it's *fun* to read!

Wow, this book still exists!!!? This was the first book I ever read. I remember the shelf it came off of in the children's library. I saw a homemade jar of pickles today and it reminded me of this book. I haven't thought of it in years but I loved this BOOK!
