This is a personal account of establishing a PLN and the main social networking tools used to connect to other professionals in the field. As a teacher of languages the author gives some great examples of how he has benefited from creating an online network of like minded professionals. Again Twitter is cited as the best tool for educators to establish their PLN. Tom Whitby and Eric Sheninger are mentioned as examples to be followed - these gentlemen continue to be leaders in digital communication and collaboration. This 50 page read is something that would benefit all teachers, and professionals from other fields. I would recommend it and with an update for 2015,it would continue to be an excellent exemplar. Thanks Thomas Jerome Baker for writing this simple text that I will share with other members of my staff.
This book is an excellent resource. The author shares how he has become a connected educator and developed a Professional Learning Network (PLN). He gives insights into his use of social media. He uses Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to connect to educators worldwide. In this way, his professional learning network benefits him and others mutually. In sum, it is recommendable for all educators and people in other professions to use the power of social networking to form a learning network. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
