Bought 2 of these-1 each for my son and I to take to Northern Tier High adventure BSA camp. We are active and AVID fishermen. First couple days were fine but after the weather got to the poles, they just literally crashed.. I actually had to lash the tip eyelet back to the pole as metal fatigue (yes I kept the tip guard on) caused it to fail...
Then I set the hook on a large Pike and the pole proceeded to snap right in half.. lost the line, leader, lure, fish, and the top half of a 7foot model... my fishing was done for the week.
My son's handle started to come apart...the aluminum/"metalish" pieces around the handle seemed to be there for some "fidget spinner" reason..
The handle extension worked once.. the cap on the bottom split /fell out and was never seen again.
Two of the eyelets came loose and spin freely around the extension pieces..
Was really hoping these would last longer than a week on the water.. unfortunately not.. I realize you get what you pay for... guess I was hoping to hard..
Update 6/30/17 - have since been contacted by the vendor and let me tell you that their customer service is superb! They have since replaced the two original telescopic rods with a newer model that is out.
So far these newer models look to be a little more rigid and better designed. I'm hoping to get some great use out of them here soon and will post an update after a bit. As I said, their customer service is superb!!
Check back in a month for another review!!
