Fantastic value... easy to set-up

This card is excellent, it completely blew away my expectations and as such I'm now looking at how I can do more through my PC onto my 42" plasma. Both the DVI and the VGA port work great and give you a ton of flexibility. I was going to use the DVI port but instead found the resolutions supported and the software made the VGA as good so why waste a HDMI port.... I've coupled this with a Diamond soundcard and love both of them. I'm not using the PC for games but for photos and DVD's I couldn't be happier.

Set-up was very easy. The only minor downside is make sure you have the room in your machine. It's a full size card and is quite big. So make sure you check dimensions first.

All is all a very happy user..

Works well, runs a little hot compared to my old one (an exact replacement)
The new fan design doesn't seem to be as efficient, but It's never "bogged down", so I guess it's okay.
They don't even pretend that this model has the SLI integration; the "tab" isn't even built onto the board.
It's the cheapest model of the 8000 series, so no biggie.
It's also obsolete now.
If I had known that, I would have replaced it with a newer model for less.

Ah well, live and learn. It performs well, at least.

Well, I purchased this card as an upgrade from my EAX300 video card, which had 128MB of DDR Memory, and a 64-bit memory interface. I was expecting quite an improvement over that card, however was less than impressed. I have a program on my computer called Real Desktop, and what it does is make your desktop 3-d. This performed alright on my EAX300, but I was hoping with my upgrade it would be better. I was wrong. It was choppier than ever, to the point I couldn't even use it. Then, tried playing a game, (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) which as an older game, has pretty low requirements. I know this isn't a gaming card, but I did expect somewhat of an increase in performance. Anyway, this is how it went down. On low settings, this card was comparable to my EAX300, and to be honest, my EAX300 did better, getting framerates around 55-65fps average, and going as high as 80-85fps in low detail areas. This card however got an average of around 35-45fps, and only went to about 55-60fps in low detail areas. Definitely not an improvement. However, with all settings turned up, and 3x anti-aliasing, my EAX300 would stay around 1-10fps, while this card would get about 30-40fps. So in high settings it faired better than the EAX300, but with low settings it did worse. I will admit, this card played HD content with ease, compared to my EAX300. Sometimes my EAX300 would freeze up on HD content if you tried to skip it ahead, and then wouldn't play, and you'd have to restart. This normally meant I couldn't fast-forward through it, or I'd have to restart the entire film. However, with this card, I was able to skip through, and my HD experience was much better than before. So if you don't play alot of games, and don't have many 3-d apps you use, this could be a good card for you. If you plan on playing games, or have a favorite 3-d app, you might not like it so much. One thing that is my fault is that I knew I shouldn't get a card with DDR2, but I decided to anyway, and it got very hot, just as I knew it would, and performed half as good, if that, as DDR3 memory. Guess it's up to what you'll use the card for, but it wasn't for me.

Slow reader

Work for Call of Duty 4, not very noticable quality change with video

I bought this card to replace my integrated card that comes with Dell PC so that I can play Call of Duty 4.
Pros:
Easy to install
Work for Call of Duty 4, maybe other current PC games
Some improvement in graphics, but not very noticeable.
included cable wires give multiple choices of connecting monitor and TV.

Cons:
The graphic card console on the desktop is not easy to work with, and the manual does not cover that a lot.

Bottom line:
Work with my Call of Duty 4

This was just installed today about a week after i purchased it cause i needed a better power supply...The box says 300 watts but nowhere did it say that in any of the specs...I was kind of disappointed about that but i was going to need to upgrade eventually. The graphics are great and the control panel for this product is very detailed for those of us who dont know what all the lingo is about (concerning graphics and gaming and some visual references)
My windows rating went from 3.2 to a 4.8 for the graphics and for aero it went from a 3.8 to a 4.8 and my overall rating is that very 4.8!!
This card is good for everything from videos to games to applications and so on, so if your not an extreme gamer then i would recommend this Gcard.

Great Video card for the money

I had a GeForce 6600 and bought Call of Duty 4 The game ran but would freeze after 30+ minutes of play time. The Geforce 6600 was being maxed out buy the call of duty 4 game. I upgraded to The GeForce 8500Gt and the game now runs great no more freezing and the graphics are the best ever. Its not the best card out there but its the best bang for the buck I have no regreats buying this card I almost got the GeForce 8400 gs and it was $20.00 more than I got the 8500 Gt for thru amazon. Amazon rocks they have some of the best deals around.

Works Great, Great Price

This product has been working great for me and it is pretty inexpensive comapared to other products of similar quality. I mostly use this to run World of Warcraft and once in awhile FPS games like Bio Shock and it has worked great on all of them.

Without the video card I was running the games at near the lowest setting in order to not have a bad framerate and now I am able to run them at near max setting with a high framerate. Very happy with the purchase.

Great Video Card

I just bought a 24" monitor recently, and this card with its DVI connection is truly the item that tops it off. DVD's like I have never seen before. It also has the power for HD or BluRay. It only requires a 300w power source, which my HP has. I just love this setup. I had a nVidia 6150e in my HP. This is a five minute changeout. Just add the card, and hook up the cable. Run the drivers, and you are in.
