zoomIt is a revolution in managing content with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Combining application software with an intelligent accessory, zoomIt adds SD and SDHC capability and media management tools that allow you to easily view, listen to, and share all of your photos, music, video and files on the go without the need to connect to your camera, Mac or PC.

From the Manufacturer

Transfer content between flash memory cards and your iPhone, iPod, or iPad.

Transfer Files, Maximize Storage, and Enhance Your Media Capabilities: In a Flash

zoomIt is a revolution in managing content with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Combining application software with an intelligent accessory, zoomIt adds SD and SDHC capability and media management tools that allow you to easily view, listen to, and transfer your photos, music, video clips and files on the go without the need to connect to your camera, Mac or PC.

The zoomIt adapter allows Apple handset owners to look at photos, play music, and read documents off an SD card by connecting to your handset’s charging port. This is coupled with a smart software that optimizes your device’s digital experience with a simple user interface to transfer content to and from your flash memory card and Apple device.

Easy to Use

When you connect the adapter for the first time you will be prompted onscreen to download a free iPhone app that controls the media files on your memory cards. For photos and documents you will have pushbutton options to e-mail them or post them to the photo sharing website Flickr, or upload them to your Facebbok account. For each of these applications the app will shrink large files down to an e-mail, Flickr, or Facebook-approriate size to make the transfer from the card to the iPhone or iPod Touch as quick as possible without sacrificing any more image resolution than necessary.

MP3s and Web Video Clips

With zoomIt you can take your digital library to go, and have the ultimate mobile media solution… The free app “zoomIt” not only provides an easy content manager, but also adds media capability to your iPhone or iPod Touch enabling you to listen to, view, and share MP3 music files. You can also do the same with video clips*. Transfer content in various video formats such as MOV, H.264, and MP4. Load them to your SDHC card and transfer to your handset with zoomIt to view off your Apple device, email or upload to sharing sights such as YouTube.

Short and sweet - does what it says, albeit as some have noted it is slow when transferring 400 files...

BUT it supports ANY data type (e.g. PDG. DOC, etc) as opposed to the basic camera formats that Apple's connection kit supports.

So I was looking all over the internet to find a product that would allow me to add an SD card to my iPhone 4. I found 2 products out there. This one that plugs into the iphone and another device that works wirelessly. Since the wireless one is sold out I figured I would try this.

So I loaded an SD card up with a couple videos and tested it out (after installing the Zoom Media Plus app) I tried a TV episode and a movie. Both files took over a minute to load. Once loaded after about 2 minutes the movie froze and the software exited out. The TV show also froze, but it then started back up again.

So I was very disappointed. For what I wanted to use it for it did not work. My 1 star only applies to playing videos directly off the device. I did not test any other features. I am going to try and return it and buy the wireless devise when it is stock.

I bought this to simulate a memory extension for my iPhone 3G. First of all the device has to be charged before you attempt to use it. That is not a biggie, but having this knowledge before I would not have chosen it. Having gotten it charged and inserted into the iPhone I get the ya-da-ya-da message about it about it not being supported etc ... so ignore as usual. But not recognizing the device does not automatically load the installation application. So manually I tried to load the application. I don't have an Apple Apps account and I don't think I should be forced to open one - but it is the only way to install the application. Apple is not accepting my credit card info since I do not live in the USA and I have not been able to use this since I got it 3 days now. What a waste, I wish I did not destroy the package in opening it, I want to return it. I have read many other frustrated users reviews. This just adds to the list. Don't waste you money on this product.

The summary of this review is that this is an okay product with room for improvement.

First, it appears that while the ZoomIt website says "With zoomIt for the SD Card...", the manual calls it "zoomIt for SD Cards," messages in the application refer to "SD Cards" and it references "SD cards" in the documentation it does not mean all SD cards. In particular SDXC cards do not appear to work. I tried the Transcend 64GB SDXC card and the Kingston 64GB SDXC card and it wanted to reformat both and wouldn't read them. 4GB and 8GB cards worked successfully, but the 64GB cards would not work. I suspect the 32GB SD cards will work. The only reference I found (after purchasing) to a specific type of SD card was in the "User Guide" where it says insert "a SD or SDHC card". It would've been helpful if the website made clear it was not all SD cards. I wish I had looked on Amazon for more technical specs prior to buying instead of relying on the company website! I'll keep it because I have other SD cards around to use it with.

Second, the update interface is also very clunky. It was very difficult to tell if the firmware update was a success.

I tried it with the iPad and iPhone and it worked with them and smaller SD cards, but it was a little disappointing that all SD cards are not supported. So, buyer beware.

With a firmware update to support all SD cards, I'd upgrade this to 4 stars.

We're going on a trip to Holland in a few weeks and I wanted to be able to back up all the photos and videos I take with my iPhone. This looked like it would do the trick.
When I got the item I had to overcome one small obstacle: It won't plug into the phone's data port with my Otterbox Defender case on the phone. Had to remove the phone from the case to try the Zoomit. Worked beautifully.
To remedy the problem I ended up buying a Shortz (that's the brand) dock extender. Now I can plug this into my phone while it's safely inside its case.
Beside that one small issue, this is a very nice device. You download the software (free) from iTunes and it will back up the files from your phone onto the SD card. Once the data is on the SD card you can use an SD card reader to copy it into any computer, even if iTunes is not installed on the machine. Makes it a lot easier to get photos and videos off the iPhone int a PC or Mac.

The file transfer rate is not going to blow you away, but it certainly is quite capable of transferring any work related files that you may need to get on or off of your iPad. I was pleased that I finally had a solution for sharing files/documents/drawings in a field location where there is no WiFi. We work on a mobile "field work" environment where we do much of our emailing back at the office or while at the hotel in the evenings. This device definitely fills an important role in making the iPad a truly independent and portable computing device. I can now leave my laptop back at the office.

Description mentions playing videos off your SD, yea if the quality is poor, standard def or high def, forget it. Transfering files will make your nose bleed just waiting, if you leave the app, the transfer stops, so you have to wait on the transfer screen. At about 2MB per minute, it not very fast at all. I have a 32GB sd card class 4. It can transer much faster than this, zoom media must not be using any type of hardware for mounting as the apple camera connection does(never shows up in dev directory as the apple connection does)I wasted my money, only benifit it has is for my ipod as the camera kit doesnt work for it. May just try to get my money back. Only by if you are using it for small word files, avoid for megapixel camera pics and video
