What's ridiculous: the strap closes around my torso with a simple hook that slides through a loop. Nothing secures it. So when I do any bending over, like hip hinges or toe touches, the hook slips out and the band falls off. Doesn't matter if the hook is facing upward or downward. Hard to believe the company tested this. i would gladly have paid an extra dollar for a standard quick release clasp. Maybe I can sew one in myself.
I am happy to report that this device worked perfectly-with the Polar Express fitness app-right out of the box-it connected immediately on my Android devices. I used the app function itself to make the connection-it was immediate, smooth and reliable. I use the most simple of the many functions available on this app-and get a great amount of summary information at the end of my workout. I can recommend this Strap/App for the heart rate monitor function unequivocally-I would be very optimistic about its other/myriad functionalities. The app is the performance key-the strap is the connection key.
-PS if you're looking into smart watches as well, Polar offers some amazing options that are perfectly complimented by their HR Monitors.

18 may update. After having it for a month the reboot is required every few uses, so i have dropped it to 3 stars, and am now very dubious about its quality and likely lifespan. Would expect better from such a named brand...
26 june. Stopped working. Reboot no joy either. Changed battery and now working again. Quotes 400 hours life, reckon it lasted only 40. At least batteries cheap....
18 August 2020. All fine again. i think its down to batteries and battery life. re booting and / or changing the battery resolves all issues. I would buy a 10 pack of them! so enjoying product may be worth 4 stars now. batteries are quite cheap...
11 sep 2020. Battery lasted just over 2 weeks, about 10 sessions of 30 mins, so approx 5 hrs battery life vs polars claim of 400......trying one more thing, removing battery after every use, to see if that helps. If not it will probably have to go back as faulty or just not fit for purpose. I hope the social media people in polar start to pick on this negative feedback on battery life
27 October. Removing the battery when not in use has resolved the short battery life issue. I can only assume the device cant tell when its in use or not. So not sure if mine is faulty or this is a design flaw
A proper electrical chest strap is a must for R to R measurements, something that you simply can't do with even the best optical sensor right now, and probably will never be able to. Recommended.
